Orphan is a marvel based story that takes place in an Alternate reality. There are some significant differences in this reality vs. mainstream continuity. The story takes place after house of M, and civil war. Genosha was never destroyed by Cassandra nova's sentinel, Magneto is still in power. Storm is the active leader of the X-Men. Cyclops was driven insane by Jean Grey who had a phoenix relapse and died (I just really don't want either of them in my story lol)

Chapter 1 - Orin

    • I remember the weather outside was fierce. thunder echoed my mothers voice as she shouted at my father. My father was so upset he was speaking in superspeed. Mom hated when he did that. Even though both of them had registered with S.H.I.E.L.D. and tried to maintain a stance of neutrality on the issue of registration, it was clear where their true support lay.

"They are our friend, and they are dying out there, and you expect us to do nothing!" Her voice was commanding, like her pressence

"They turned there backs on the law when they made the decision not to register. We did what we had to do in order to guarantee the protection of this school, of our family, and our future." Father was dismissive. Mom hated when he did that.

"And what kind of a future are we creating for our son Pietro? OUR SON!" My mother shouted at my father.

"One where people have to earn license to enforce the law, no different than police officers. One where people are trained before they go out and try to save the day, and inadvertently cause the deaths of 600 people!"

"This is about more than that and you know it. Registration forces people out of there right to privacy and puts there civilian lives at risk. The law was made so that people had to earn license to be heroes, yet they are demanding that our son register, and that our students register. He's only a child, he's not a vigilante. This act has turned into a witch hunt Pietro! We are at war, and we are being forced to choose a side!"

"And what do you expect me to do? I can't stop them, and if we fight against them then we'll be putting our son in even more danger!"

"He would be safer on Genosha, at least until this is all sorted out."

"With Magnus? Are you out of your mind?"

"He's your father, He would do anything to protect Orin, and you know that!"

"I have been party to my father's idea of protection, and I would no sooner subject a child to it!"

"Magneto was right! Much as I hate to admit it, magnus has been saying it from the beginning, a war is coming. He was right Pietro. The war is here!"

"You're not sending our child to that madman!"

    • "I will not stand by while those supremacists force my son to register and then put him away forever because of what his powers may be. Between our family lines Orin may very well be an omega level mutant. What do you think they'll do to him if they find that out?"

"He's my son as well Ororo, and what do you think my father will use him for when he finds out he may be an omega level mutant? What do you think he'll do to him regardless? He'll learn how to be a ruthless killer and probably won't make it to see my fathers age, let alone ours. This is the only way."

"He will be treated and welcomed like a prince on Genosha and Magnus would protect him and show him how to protect himself better than we could. We're under constant watch! Especially with Orin being unregistered."

"Ro I've made up my mind, I will not have our son on Genosha to become a killer."

Even walking out my father was too fast for my mom to get in the last word. I didn't understand why I couldn't go to Genosha? Was my grandfather so evil that he couldn't be trusted with my life? Little did I know everything would change once I got there...After all momma knows best.

    • it only took a few weeks before registration went fowl. What started off as a bill to get heroes to register eventually turned to a sanction banning super humans from using their abilities publicly. Then the worst happened, Iron man and Reed Richards engineered a cyborg clone of Thor to aid them in the apprehension of resistance to registration. Captain America was killed by Ragnarok on national television.
"This must end..." Mother voice was barely a whisper, yet we all felt it in the room. The weight of this event had finally broken the backs of the resistance. Many heroes stepped forward and surrendered themselves to pro-registration heroes and shield after that. We knew then that the darkest hours was still to come.
"Uncle logan, what does this mean?"
"It means trouble. Captain America was more than a hero. He was a symbol of freedom for this country. It's only a matter of time before things get worse."

that time was short. The next day, shield agents came to the school, demanding that the students who attended all register with shield. Mom refused.
"Pietro, take orin inside. Logan and i will deal with shield."
This was code. I didn't need dad to escort me inside. Mom was warning me that there was about to be trouble. I remember looking at her with pleading eyes, as if to silently beg her not to fight them but she didn't even look at me.
"Come Orin." Father's voice called my attention to move towards the house.

"Miss Munroe I would strongly suggest..." Mom held up one finger as if to tell miss hill to wait.
"Registration was meant for vigilante's with superhuman abilities to register with the U.S. Government in the event that they wish to use there powers to fight crime. All the active crime fighters here have been registered, and all that remains are students. they are children."
"Miss Munroe am I to understand that you are Resisting registration." She emphasized on the word "Resisting" to strike a cord with mom. That was a bad Idea. I watched from a distance as my mother clenched her jaw. The sky began to go grey, but the shield agents didn't seem to notice.
      "Uncle logan."
      "I see it kid."
Dark heavy clouds began to blanket the once clear skies.

"Miss munroe, are you listening to me?" Maria hill said when mom closed her eyes.
      "My Name..."
"Ororo NO!" dad yelled and even with his super speed, he wasn't fast enough.
      "IS STORM!"

The wind suddenly wind was rushing around us from all around ass, sweeping over Miss Hill and the Shield operatives, sweeping them about.
"Damn! orin get inside, evacuate the students!" Logan shouted over the howl of the wind while covering me.
"What about mom?" I shouted back.
"GET INSIDE!" Logan popped his claws and headed towards mom. I tried to follow after him when Dad rushed in front of me.
"We can handle this Orin. You have to get the other students to safety now!" He yelled at me. I looked at him with the urge of defiance in my eyes. I wanted to help. What was the point in having spent so much time learning to control my powers if all I was meant to do was run and hide?
"I said NOW!" he screamed as bolts of lightning reigned down from the sky like fire. He turned his back to me and like a blur of color he ran to the battle unfolding in our front yard.

I rushed inside, with lightning speed, to the students, and warned them all to evacuate the School. Beast, known to me as uncle hank and the other X-men and I lead the students to the X-Wing. When they were all in the ship I got off. Hank yelled to me from the cockpit,
"Come on Orin get in. We have to get the students to safety."
"No I'm going back I can help!" I didn't bother waiting to hear him lecture me on what my parents would want me to do."
"No orin wait!" But I was too fast for him to have any hope of stopping me, and before he finished with his last word I was gone with a streak bluish white light leaving a trail of electromagnetic energy behind me.

By the time I returned to the Front lawn, the battle had grown. My mother who had been rumored to be a goddess looked nothing short of that title, as the winds danced savagely around her, tossing her hair about like the weightless white clouds helpless to resist a summer breeze. her eyes were glowing white fire with the ferocity of the lightning she commanded. Shield agents poured in like toy soldiers only to be swept away with hurricane force winds.

dad was moving so fast that none of the shield operatives could see him but I could. My eyes were especially adapted to see things moving at high speeds. He was disarming them, snatching the guns from there hands before they could take aim at my mother.

Logan took a different approaching diving headlong into the battle, wounding each one of them my father had disarmed so that they couldn't take up the fight again. They worked together with a fluidity that was so efficient, that I completely understood why they spent so much time in training sessions together even after having perfectly mastered their individual crafts. they were preparing for this day. the day my grandfather had been saying was coming. the day when the government would challenge there right to even exist. Magneto was right, and they were prepared to fight armies of humans...but nothing could have prepared them for Ragnarok.

I felt him coming before he even arrived. I think even those who couldn't sense energies like I could were still able to feel his presence as he approached. A willful force challenging my mother's own will over the elements.

I felt something different all together. I felt fear. Even having been raised by the mistress of the elements, I had never felt a force so strong. I had never met Thor. I never knew that kind of power.

The winds calmed, and there was a sudden stillness in the air. Mom's voice was no longer echoed by the the crashing of thunder, or carried by the winds. She was preparing herself for the battle to come. They hadn't even realzed I was still there, paralyzed with fear.
"He approaches. Wolverine, Quicksilver be on your guard!"

Preview of Chapter 2: Era (A Sorceress born of darkness, drawn to light)

His name is Stephen strange. He's the sorcerer supreme of our realm, and the closest thing to a father I have ever known. In Truth he's my uncle. My father, Victor was bitten by a Vampire. Guess that made him an unfit parent. In order to protect me from my mother, and himself, my father left me with my uncle, but that was before this...civil war got out of control.

"You have to get her out of here Stephen."

"And where am I suppose to take her Victor? Perhaps you think she would be safer on Genosha with Selene?"

"Leave her mother out of this."

"And why should I? She has a right to know who and where she came from. I use every spell I can to save you from yourself, and you go and allow yourself to be seduced by Selene!"

"Typical, even as an immortal I will never live this down!"

"You are a Vampire Victor! Frankly Era is Far safer with me, than she would be in the domain of Magneto, and within the reach of Selene"

"That was before...they have Ragnarok on there side. I doubt even your magicks can challenge an Army of gods."

I just sat quietly and listened. After all, what else could I do?

This is fantastic! This is probably one of the best series I have started on here, that involves Marvel to boot!

Keep up the awesome work and I can not wait to see more and the many characters you introduce. I am not really into Marvel, but are these characters (other than the obvious, Wolverine, Storm, Magneto, etc.) ones you actually created or are were they already made? None the less, great read and I am excited for the next chapter!!

@KisserNe: Thank you ^_^! The story is going to revolve around 6 original characters. Each of them being a play on existing marvel characters in there own way. I created all of them for role playing on myspace a long while ago. Have just gradually been developing a storyline for them all since then. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Normally I don't write for feed back, but I would really like feedback for this one. Will have the second chapter up in this thread by the nights end, so feel free to check in again tonight.

Chapter 2: Era (A Sorceress born of darkness, drawn to light)

No Caption Provided

The wind Outside was raging unnaturally. They were the winds of change, and they sent violent chills down my spine. My name Era and I was there when the world went mad, watching from the shadows.

"Do you sense that Era?" His voice interrupted my meditation.

"Of course." My voice was dry, and flat...somewhat apathetic. I learned a very long time ago that in order to master my gifts I must master myself. Step one of mastering yourself is maintaining absolute control of your own emotions.

I looked over to the man who had taught me all that I knew in the mystic arts, and felt a sense duplicity. he was all I had ever known of family, my mentor and the man who had taken me in. His name is Stephen strange better known as doctor Strange.

"Typical, even as an immortal I will never live this down, and you know full well that's not how it happened."

"Oh spare me! Selene promised you the impossible, and you believed her."

I'm a bit sketchy on the details. No one likes to talk about it really. What I know is that the closest Doctor Strange could come to a cure for my fathers vampirism, was to cast a spell that nullified his blood lust and weakness to sunlight, so long as he never spilled the blood of an innocent. That wasn't enough for him, so he sought a...second opinion. Selene knew magick, old magick, unnatural magic, and she promised him a cure, but it required a human sacrifice. He was desperate for his humanity. As a Vampire he felt he had nothing left to live for. As I understand it, he was either going to restore his humanity completely or he was going to end his own life. He did what Selene commanded. But he was tricked, like so many have been by Selene. Selene took her own blood, and mixed it with Victors blood in a challis, as the body of the innocent human burned on a pyre. Selene poured the blood of the challis into the flame and it turned black. Out from that Flame walked a little girl. Me. Selene's spell had given dark magic sentient consciousness and the stolen soul of an innocent. This spell was a particularly tricky one, see, it requires the magic of a very powerful dark witch, and a very powerful Light sorcerer. While Victor was no sorcerer, Stephen was, and there blood mirrored. Selene knew this. She knew the spell wouldn't work to it's fullest potential, but she didn't need it to. Selene wanted to feed on the fundamental forces of dark magic, to achieve her ascension. Unfortunately for her, when Victor realized her treasury, he stole me and took me away.

Sadly though, Doctor Strange's spell of protection over him had been broken, he was being over taken with his own desire for blood, and while I was born of the darkest kind of magic, and intended for terrible things, I was still an innocent, so he took me to his Doctor strange, and left me in his care.

"Stephen, she's all I have in this world. I have to protect her, just let me take her to Genosha. Magneto Has opened the borders to all who wish to live freely."

"And you think Magneto will welcome you with open arms victor? You are a Vampire Victor! Frankly Era is Far safer with me, than she would be in the domain of Magneto, and within the reach of Selene"

"That was before...they have Ragnarok on there side. I doubt even your magicks can challenge an Army of gods."

I just sat quietly and listened. After all, what else could I do? Don't be mistaken though, it wasn't them I was listening to. No I was listening to a terrifying crescendo of elemental forces banging the symphony of the drums of war. I was listening to the winds of change. I kept my eyes closed, gently at first, and then the ripples of time like the surface of the ocean began to agitate. Whilst my father and my uncle argued amongst themselves like petty children, I attempted to still my mind, inviting a vision of the future, to see how this might turn out, when all of the sudden I felt time, like a stack of cards reshuffling itself over and over again, as though destiny were changing drastically every moment.

"Argh!" I cried out as I crashed to the floor of my uncles study, eyes radiating violet light.

"Stop." I said strained, through gritted teeth and they silenced. "Destiny is rewriting itself...can't you feel it?" I said looking over at my mentor. Then it hit him. He looked at me as though stunned. I saw it in his eyes, the visions were flooding his mind, threatening to overwhelm him.

Chapter 3: Orin

I never told you about my mutant power did I? I can perceive, control, produce, absorb, convert, and even become Electromagnetic energy. That's why I can run so fast. My body converts to an energy form when I am moving at super speed. I'm basically a living bolt of lightning. Running was something I was good at. Better than most. In fact I had only ever met one person who had me beat in speed, and that was my father, but even he was frozen in place. When I think back on that day, I wonder what was going through there heads. I mean, naturally I was terrified. I wasn't a hero. I was just a kid with a lot of power. But what was going through there heads. they had faced impossible odds before. My father was an Avenger, the mightiest of Earth heroes. He stood side by side with Thor, and captain America. Captain America taught him how to fight, He looked up to capatin America, and now he was looking at the thing that killed one of him, wearing the face of his teammate, his friend.

Mother was a different breed all together. Mom had worn many titles in her lifetime, and she had faced off against the real Thor once in her life time. Mom had been regarded by many as a goddess. sought after for her beauty, regality, and power, by the most powerful of men.

if the rest of the world were mice, than mutants are cats. But i mutants art cats, the gods of Asgard are like lions, and Thor was the biggest strongest and deadliest of them.

"You are are no Goddess." He looked at my mother as though disgusted.

"And you are no God. You are no Thor." Her voice barely a whisper through gritted teeth. She looked at him with eyes of fury.

with my power to perceive the electromagnetic spectrum, I could see the world differently than anyone I knew. The world to me looked like lights. Looking upon this monstrosity was blinding. Around his hammer, I saw a veritable whirlpool of power. More power than I had ever seen generated at one time, and yet, mom was still. She wasn't shaken by this, though I knew she could see the same thing I was seeing.

"I've got a clean shot, I'm taking it." Did I mention I can hear radio frequencies as easily as I can see the EM spectrum. Maria Hill was taking aim at my mother.

"Nooooo!" I cried out, shifting into my energy form and dashing towards her. When I shifter into an energy form, my organic tissue doesn't disappear, but it becomes highly unstable, but anchored to my consciousness through my own personal EM field. It vibrates. It's a tingling feeling. It's honestly the form that feels most natural too me. With a blur of white light I was standing in front of Maria Hill.

Then everything went white. There was an explosion, and everything got quiet. I remember feeling disoriented, and completely off balance, I was some how forced out of my energy form, and I could feel my heart pounding in my head, and my nose was bleeding.

Ragnarok was upon me.

"Have at Thee Villain!" He shouted, but I was too disoriented to try and convert to my energy form again. I was to dizzy to try and move at all, lett alone at super speed. instinctively I tried to create a shield of EM energy, but I wasn't focused enough, and by his second hit with that hammer, he shattered through it, and I felt my arm crack, as I fell to the ground

"Argh!' I cried out. I had never felt anything hit so hard that it could break through my EM Shields. Mother and Father told me, that Magneto's best weapon against them back when, was his force field was nearly impenetrable. He took it out completely in two hits

"Orin!" I heard my mother call out.

"Stand down!" Maria Hill shouted at him, "You were given orders to apprehend, not kill!"

"Thor takes order from no mortal woman." He raised his Hammer to the sky just as it was about to strike down on me, Uncle Logan came up behind him and popped his claws into his Ribs, My father flashed by him running circles around him striking him over and over again and then the sky Opened up and pulled him into it, with winds that didn't seem to touch anyone else. Then a giant sphere of dark heavy clouds formed around him in the sky. I could see flashes of lightning and hear the explosive bursts of thunder.

"Orin you were suppose to get to safety with hank!" Logan barked

"I just...i just."

"Noonehearhasthetimetoprotectyou!Doyouhaveanyideawhatwe'reupagainst?!DOYOU!" Father was screaming at me in speed talk, as he was running around still disarming Shield Agents, so that they couldn't fire at Mom, and mom...well she was pissed.

"How dare you! Attack my child! Believing yourself to be a god because of the toys you play with and the power they have over the elements that I command! You will pay dearly for this you abomination." Mom was pulling all her concentration to create an Atmospheric pressure sphere. To sum it up shortly, Mother had trapped Ragnarok inside sphere that had the atmospheric pressure equivalent or greater than to the planet Jupiter. I can see why people called her a goddess. Any power he tried to pull from that Hammer, she was mentally layering it on to his prison. It was a brilliant plan.

Father rushed in front of me.

"Answer me!" he grabbed my arm. I winced.

"Pietro calm down!" Logan said taking my father's hand from my arm.

"I think the kids arm is broken."

"I was just...i wanted to help." I stuttered through tears.

"Orin you have a lot of power, and you have been training for this your whole life, but you're still a kid, and You wouldn't stand a chance against someone like Thor."

"Thats not thor. Logan, I need you to get my son out of here."

"Where am i suppose to take him?"

"...To my father. Ororo was right...he would be safer there."

"And what about you and Storm?"

"You know as well as I do, She's powerful, but He will eventually get out of that prison she made for him. She won't be able to keep it up for much longer."

"So what's the plan?"

"When she lets go, I'll catch her, and run. In the mean time I will keep her covered until you have put enough distance between them and my son."

"Dad, I'm fast i can...."

"Be Quiet Orin! You aren't strong enough to carry Logan, and you clearly can't be trusted to follow simple instructions so Logan will be leading you on this one. Is that clear?" I didn't say a word. I just nodded. He looked away from me, and back at Logan. "Get him to Genosha, we'll all meet up there, but if you can, keep him hidden from my father."

I looked up at mom. I told myself I would see her again, but somehow I knew that was a lie. Dad sped off again, running to the on coming shield agent enforcers, and taking them down. giving us time.

"C'mon kid we gotta go." Of all the X-Men I had grown up around, Logan always was the closest to me other than my parents. Most people would wonder why, the one X-Men who was a ruthless and savage killer, with possibly the worst temper had such a knack with young people. I understood it though. Logan was like a guard dog. To everyone else he was all claws and teeth, but to the people he loved he was there protector.

"I can't just leave...they're my parents...this is my fault, I can't just..."

"You can't fight Orin. we have to move."

"You're not going anywhere!" It was Miss Hill. Pointing a gun at us. "Reenforcements are on their way now, and I'm taking you guys in."

"You think you got enough bullets in that gun to slow me down, or even land a hit on the kid, you got another thing coming. Your toy soldier my be enough to handle what storm's dishin out right now but I doubt you would want to get pulled in to that weather ball with him." Logan popped his claws again. "the kids leavin with me."

As he talked to this woman I thought of how much I hated her. She didn't have to come here. She didn't have to bring this war to our door step. Mom was right, I'm not a hero so the S.H.R.A. shouldn't apply to me just because I was a mutant. I hated her. I hated her because she brought this to us. My life was a good life, my parents were good the good guys, they followed the rules, they even registered, and now this might be the last time I ever see them, all because of this woman. I hated her so much I wanted her dead...so I killed her.

"This is your Fault!" I pointed my hand at her and unleashed all the electromagnetic energy i had absorbed from Ragnarok's first hit in a concentrated stream. Lightning burns 6 times hotter than the surface of the son, hits harder than a semi truck, and fires at near instantaneous speed, but when you can perceive the world around you at super speed, the experience is slow. I watched as the light flashed from my hand, and hit her. I took in the entire experience of her body first locking up from the electric constriction, then the heat overwhelming her, incinerating her clothes, and her flesh blistering, then like grains of sand caught in the tide, she began to de-atomize, one screaming molecule at a time. The entire experience took less than a second, but in that short of a time, I had crossed a line that heroes weren't suppose to cross. I killed someone.

"Orin what the hell are you doing!" Logan screamed at me.

"You said we have to go...lets go..."

Chapter 4: Era

No Caption Provided

destiny isn't set in stone. It's flexible, ever flowing, constantly changing and adapting to fit the events that shape it. I can see the threads of destiny as clearly as a beautifully fashioned tapestry.

In fact I can see the future more clearly than i can see the present. Unfortunately that's only if something in like this doesn't happen. My pupil's dilated, and I felt my head begin pounding...no rattling. If destiny was like a neatly stacked deck o cards, something had happened that sent the cards flying into the air, and destiny was struggling to re-stack them and my mind was being assaulted to with visions.

"Argh!" I screamed through gritted teeth,

"Stephen help her!" My father shouted to my uncle, but his words fell on deaf ears. If I was being assaulted with visions of the future, than Dr. strange, the sorcerer supreme was no doubt being flooded with those same visions more intensely than me.

"Victor, you've got to take Era, and get out of here now! they are on their way!" Dr. Strange said clutching his head, his nose beginning to bleed.

"Who's coming?!"

"You were right. An Army of gods. I was a fool to think she would be safe here." He said stumbling to the book of the Vishanti.

"I must find a way to fix this, as the guardian of this realm, and I can't do that and protect her at the same time. You have to keep them from finding her."

I said nothing. I did my best to ignore the pain, and wiped the stream of black blood from my nose, when I felt a distant vibration, like a slow violin, steadily quickening by the second.

"Strange...do you feel that?" I said with a thin breath.

"Yes of course i feel it." He said closing his eyes, as though bracing himself for a sudden chilling breeze.

"What is that?" Victor asked. There was a momentary silence.

"It's our destiny... And it's trouble." I said somberly.

Orin:

A sudden rush of arctic wind washed over me, when I looked up and realized that my mother was still in the midst of struggling to contain Ragnarok inside of a hyper-compressed storm system.

"Orin what are you still doing here?" it was my father.

"I i i i i" I stutter when I'm nervous. He noticed the scorch marks before I could explain myself.

"orin what have you done?"

"She was gonna. gonna" dammit stop stuttering.

He grabbed hold of me so fast even being able to see at super speed didn't prepare me for it.

"WHAT DID YOU DO ORIN!"

"He did what he had to do. she pointed a gun at us, he was doing what you taught him to do. he was defending himself." Logan said grabbing my fathers arm. "Besides, we have bigger things to worry about. Storm can't hold blondy in there forever, and Hill said something about reinforcements being en rout before Orin took her out." I don't think I had ever been so thankful for Uncle Logan as i had been in that moment.

Then I felt it. Massive swells of energy approaching. Mom felt it to. A change int the flow of energy approaching in the distance.

"th-they're coming...tha-that way." I said pointing in the direction I had felt their approach. "there's a lot of them, and they're all strong. very very strong."

"Logan watch him. I'm gonna go see what we're up against." And in a streak of color and a whoosh of wind he took off.

"I'm sorry Logan. I didn't mean to kill her. I just..." I did my best to steady my breathing and not stutter.

"Lost control." He finished my sentence.

"Y-yea." Damn stutter.

"It happens sometimes. She had it coming...don't let it happen too often." I wonder how many times Uncle Logan had lost control.

"Is there anything I can do to help mom?"

"Be ready to run for your life. The only thing standing between us and a cosmic ass-kicking is your mother's will power...and It's about to break."

"Isn't there anything I can do to help?" I said looking up at the sky flashing with so much lightning it looked like the fourth of July.

"Taking the first hit from him was about the best thing you could have done. You see what your mother did once she thought you were hurt." He said with a laugh. "You got a light?" He said taking a cigar out of the inside pocket of his leather jacket. I pointed at the tip of it and fired a small spark at the tip. "Thanks"

"How can you be so calm?" I asked him with the nervous sensation in my chest, like the one you get right before you know you're going to get in trouble.

"end of the world...just another day on the job for the X-Men." I had to respect and admire that much about uncle Logan.

"LOGAN THERE IS AN ENTIRE ARMY OF THOSE THOR CLONES APPROACHING! ORIN HAS TO GET OUT OF HERE NOW!" Father shouted over the wind returning with that blinding speed.

"Too late speedy." Logan said looking off into the distance. they were here.

"ORIN!" It was mom. Her voice echoed through the wind As the area suddenly became heavily dense with fog. She was giving us some cover. "LAEVE NOW!" She could sense me, my energy still there. that meant she could sense what was approaching. Surely she knew that they would need my help.

"You heard the woman Orin, lets go." Uncle logan grabbed my arm and started of when I began to pull away.

"NO!" I shouted at uncle Logan. I never really shouted at anyone, but I shouted at him. "I'm gonna stay here! I'm gonna fight!"

"We don't have time for this." Logan said.

"I can help!"

"You could end up getting killed. no one here has the energy to spare on protecting you."

"I don't need protection."

"Fine."

"Alright kid here's the plan, he keep them off of your mother as long as we can. Do not engage any of them directly. draw their fire. keep moving you got it. Don't ever slow down. Your bio-electromagnetic field is your only defense, and we don't know the extent of how much it protects you."

Chapter 5: Era

Dr Strange stormed through the Sanctum in search of something. Books, charms, scrolls, ancient magical artifacts, all drifted about the room as circling around Dr. Strange. What was he looking for?

I didn't bother asking him. Had he truly wanted me to know what it was he was looking, he would have made that known.

"Stephen will you please slow down and help me to understand this?"

"There is no time!" he didn't even look away from his daunting task. "Here it is, I've found it." Drifting before him was a large diamond shaped amethyst, radiating a violet light.

"Found what?" I asked him directly.

"The Soul Gem. One of the most supremely important magical artifacts in existence." He said a loud, as though he were talking to it, and not paying any mind to those of us in the room.

"What makes that gem so important?" I asked an obvious question.

"You'll soon find out Era. It's yours now." He looked at me, and the gem drifted to me. "This gem holds in it the collective knowledge of all magic. it is the nexus of realities, and imprinted into it are the makings of our universe, and a gateway to the omniverse, and the guidance of every sorcerer supreme that has ever been. It has never had be used, but I fear the day is upon us."

"And you're entrusting it to a child."

"She is far more than just a child Victor, Selene saw to that."

"Era listen to me. I meant to teach you so much more, but I haven't the time. You got the same vision I did."

"Yes"

"Than you know I haven't much time left. Just understand that all things are connected. Destiny is already struggling to re-weave her tapestry, tearing away what does not work. My thread has reached it's end, and is soon to be cut." I looked away from him. I had never considered a world without my mentor. My eyes began to tear up but I fought them back with defiance. "I won't be here to guide you any more, but my spirit will be with you in there." He pointed to the gem, and I looked down at it. it began to illuminate bright neon violet light, and suddenly I saw glowing runes, and text, swirling inside of it.

"Stephen, come with us."

"I can't"

"Damned fool."

"I'm the only one of us powerful enough to slow them down. Give you guys enough time to escape." He looked back to me. "once you touch it, the bond is sealed. like a flame aglow at night, you will attract dark things. they will covet your light. They will want nothing more than to possess that light. You must never let them get it. Is that understood."

"yes." I couldn't fight the tears anymore. It had finally hit me. These were the last words of the greatest sorcerer known to earth, and the only family I knew.

"I love you Era, as though you were my own child."

"I love you too uncle Stephan."

"Victor, go with her, and protect her. The day will come when she will be this worlds last hope, and the only chance we have that balance will be restored."

"And what are you going to do?"

"I am going to do all I can." And with those last words, he looked at me one last time.

"You know the spell era...It's time."

I held up my hand, and using my index and middle finger, I drew the rune in the air. "cancello modo libre vista." My the whites of mu eyes turned black and from them melted out black tears. My pink flesh began to wash over, and dewy skin now looked like ebon glass. I had become a living shadow, a gift I inherited from my mother. I had an affinity for darkness. My eyes were glowing with the same ultra violet light as them gem. I reached out and took hold of it, and was suddenly blinded by it burning light and in an instant my mind was bombarded by it's power. Vision upon vision of the past present and future all at the same time. I tried to let it go, as it threatened to overwhelm me, but I was unable o let it go.

With my free hand I tried to shield my eyes, but it was no use. I was seeing through the eyes of the infinite. I was was seeing destiny, and as it was never meant to be seen by a mortal. I felt my mind being pushed to the brink of it's composure, like a single man caught in a tempest at see. My astral form was being tossed about the angry and turbulent see of time, an instant in the future, a millennium in the past, hot cold, bitter than sweet, and just when I thought I would be overtaken by the gems power, there came a stillness.

My eyes still closed, i felt the still before I opened to see it.

"You made it child." It was a voice that somehow felt familiar to me, though I had never heard anything like it before. I opened my eyes, and there she was.

Ashake
Ashake

"Welcome child...I am Ashake, and this is the edge."

Chaper 5: Orin

A Raging Hurricane
A Raging Hurricane

Imagine if you can being on an island, and an Earth Quake strikes, and from it, a tsunami, and a volcano erupting, and in the distance an on coming tempest. That's what it was like to see the clash of these two titans. My mothers clever attack was a good idea, but it was like caging a grizzly bear in the middle of it's hunt. He would get out, and he would still hunger for battle, and none of use were strong enough to handle him. But he would have to face a lioness once he got out of the cage. Mom's powers had become more wild, and savage, and less precise and refined. She was navigating her powers on instinct, ignoring her limitations. I could feel the shift of energies in the air. She was pulling power from the Earth itself at this point.

I tried my best to keep my mind in the fight at hand. My father running ahead of me, and I raced in behind him. When you move at super speed, a second is stretches on for eternal moments. My father slowed down enough for me to get ahead of him. I focused on my bio-EM field, doing my best to strengthen it's density before firing into the air, and striking one of the foot soldiers. My father stayed on the ground rushing to strike the fallen clone, before moving on to the next task.

After knocking the clone to the ground, I used my magnetic manipulations to sling shot the metal platform upon which he stood into another of the clones before striking at it with an electric bolt of energy. the Fallen clone was soon stabbed by uncle Logan before he was beheaded.

"Orin, do not engage them directly!" Logan reminded me of the plan. he was right, that was a lucky hit, and it wouldn't work twice in a row.

I did get there attention however, and they didn't focus on Mom who was still dealing with the most powerful of them.

They turned to face me, and aimed their weapons at me. I reached out with my mind magnetically to try and disarm them, but before I could I was fired at by them all at once. My mind shifted from real time to that of a speedster, but even so there were so many different angles and energy beams flying at me at once that I didn't have time to dodge them all. I was hit, and my body went white hot, but I didn't break my defense. I focused harder on my Bio-field, trying my best to maintain it. I had to, it was moms only chance. I had to keep them busy.

"ORIN!" My father shouted over the firing of bullets and from behind the blind light of the energy....that's right...it's energy. If it's electromagnetic at all in it's composition, I could control it. I concentrated on the energy of there weapons, and using my EM bio-field, I absorbed the energy, to amplify my own before forcing it back at them in the form of a explosive massive electromagnetic pulse, shutting down their levitating platforms and their weapons technologically built to mimic the magic of thors hammer, sending them all crashing to the ground, with only their super strength and durability.

"Nice move kid!" I heard I heard Logan cheer, before stabbing another of the foot soldiers.

"These ones aren't as strong as the first one, but they're still pretty tough." Logan said a getting back on his guard.

I looked off into the distance to check on mom.

"Orin keep your eyes on the battle at hand. you're mother can take care of yourself." My father said as he sped between the now grounded clones. The electronic components of their weapons had been disabled, by me, but the weapons themselves, made in the shape of hammers, mases, and swords were still useful when applied with strength and skill, but they told me I was not to engage the enemy directly, so I remained in the air.

"Have at thee coward!" One of them shouted before hurling his hammer at me. I dodged, it, and on instinct I fired lightning at him striking him with it. It stunned him. 1600 volts of electricity only stunned him, but it was enough to give Logan an opening to stick him.

I pressed the button on my communicator. "I have an idea." I said. "Steer clear of the flashing lights."
