Notice Regarding Personal Fan-Fic Libraries

While I will never say you can't create a library for your self to collect stories, I wanted to put out a notice before this gets to be a craze...

As some of you might know, for a month or so I have been working diligently on creating a complete CV fan fic Library, which will collect all the fics in this forum. All writers' work prior to July 2012 will be included. The stories published in july should be submitted in the Fics of July 2012 SUBMISSION THREAD.

So, I'm not going to say you can't create your own personal library to showcase your work. that is your deicison. However, in what I believe will be a month, such threads will be unnecessary at least in my opinion. I already have a 50 page document of stories prior to about May 2010 and I should be to 2011 shortly.

Just wanted to put out a notice regarding this subject.

@TheWholeDamnShow: unsure. I have this theory it'll be done by the end of the month to coincide with the release of the "Fics of the month" thread (which will showcase the submissions of the previous month (plus more) ), but we'll see.

when I get closer to completion I may take you up on that offer to see if the format is alright and if I need to combine some of the writers.

What I'm thinking is after I collect all the stories prior to July 2012, I'll seperate the writers into One-shot Writers (people who only wrote one fan fic) and Writers who have done more than one. But that is an afterthought. At the moment I'm focused on the collection. I'll reorganize later

I would like to first point out I started this project a month ago (before you posted your library).

Cannon copied you in this enterprise, then Rabbitearsblog joined in as well. Which is why I put out this notice. I wanted/needed the trend to stop before this forum was flooded with libraries...

well, whenever they were made they probably will be locked (sorry...) after the complete library is actually complete.

Side note: 63 pages worth of story titles! I just reached 2011...

@joshmightbe: if you mean group libraries, then no. they will remain unlocked.

however everything ever posted (minus a few things) will be organized by writer (unless I place them in a group section)

@The Poet: It may be easier on you to just link the group libraries instead of the individual posts

@joshmightbe: no I would prefer to have writers work credited with the writer...sort of like how a regular library normally sorts a book by the writer as apposed to the series it is apart of (exceptions do apply of course)

see this is how I think this library is going to work. It will be broken into two parts:

• Writers (the largest part with work under those writers)
• and community projects (like say Reboot almost ANY comic-character. )

what we have called "group projects" will be ordered in the Writers section ordered by the writer. they won't be collected together. However, Prime's central thread will remain to keep links to the individual libraries which will still serve to collect it by series.

That is what I am thinking.

@joshmightbe:thanks. they just are so few compared to the number of individual fics it wouldn't make too much of an impact I'm afraid. I am in 2011 and the only group fics I have (not community projects) I have are the contests done by Final Arrow (fairy tale) and Mistress Redhead (X2 contests) plus the fan fic version of Clark's bar (yes there was one...).

so, I'm not going to make a different section for them if I only have a page worth of stuff (currently) compared to the 63 pages of stories.

I figure I'll put the stories in by the writer and then i have pmed Prime about adding a little bit to the group thread to include past groups.

@The Poet: Wait, i'm not sure i understand this. I collect the fan fic i write under the term ASPECT comics and i have the library of work listed there. Does this mean that library thread will be locked and i won't be able to add to it?

@feebadger: I need to think about this one. it's techically a group fan fic, but it only has one member...

tell you what. I'll leave ASPECT COMICS as an exception, but this will be the only one.

I don't want to see personal libraries littering the fan fic section when we will have one anchored which will collect everything. at the begining of this thread I wasn't firm about the subject. Now that I have thought about it, I am going to place a rule against having personal fan fic libararies. Sorry everyone who wanted to make one, but one of my jobs as moderator is to make sure there isn't duplicates and if we have one central place we don't need smaller versions of that library. Group libraries are fine because they collect stories by other writers (the central library will be ordering stories by author of course).

For anyone who wanted to make a personal library you can always keep a collection of your stories in your "mini bio" so users can pull it up where ever you have posted. that is my suggestion.

@@The Poet: Thanks Poet, i appreciate it. I the future i'm hoping to open Aspect up to others to contribute also, so i'm hoping it doesn't stay a one man project too long.

bumping this to update: I now have reached Feb/March 2011 and have 70 pages of regular stories (not including group projects, pages I'm not sure about and so on...)

I might sound like an insane person, but....yes.

From Feb 9th 2007 (and yes that is the actual date of the first post in the fan fic section...not Feb 17th 2007 like someone would think looking at the last thread on page 90) onward to June 30th 2012 (the July stories will be contained as well, but you have to look at the Submission thread for those until the Showcase thread is up. Don't know when the the actual library will be up).

So I found this buried on page 50-something, and was just wondering: does the library exist today, or did it get scrapped?

@batkevin74: I actually started on page 137 and worked backwards- bored at work, that's all. I bookmarked some of the larger libraries for later reading. I'm meandering through DC Re-Invented right now. I'll get to Marvel Iron Age, Corrupted, Splicers and all that good stuff eventually. I'm digging on joshmightbe's writings at the moment too.
