The sky quaked as the lance of lightning collided with the beam of lunar energy high above the ambulance as Alyosha dragged Humbug out of the ambulance and threw him to the floor. With a feeble but well placed kick the Hunter’s prey caused him to stagger backwards eyes watering as the Beetle leapt onto the roof and tackled him from behind. Squirming Humbug clicked the ‘Play’ button and the area around him was filled with an amplified mosquito wail, the force of the blast shutting down the Beetle’s armour as Kraven tackled him from behind and stabbed a knife into his shoulder. Switching tapes to that of a Bud Moth, Humbug fired again, this time the scream overloading Kraven’s hearing and sending him rolling in pain on the floor.
“Stop that noise Hero.” A voice sounded from the back of the ambulance causing Humbug to peer round the side to where the female Vulture stood holding a pair of grenades. “Sit down and shut up or I blow everyone to kingdom come.”
Humbug sighed and crouched on the ground before sliding the cassette player over to Vulture. “Too bad you're so gullible I was…guh.” Before she could finish the Beetle slammed feet first into, knocking the grenades away and slamming her head first into the ambulance door.
“Unhand her.” Kraven roared as he slipped past Humbug and thrust the spear at his target only for her to dodge and stab him in the shoulder with her taser gauntlets.
“The Answer wants Wing dead and I'm already p!$$€d at this toilet of a city.” The Beetle snarled before kicking Kraven only for him to grab her leg and slash off the outer layer of armour. “Now get…argh crud that hurts!” She yelled as a river of flame shot down the road and superheating the asphalt as the Hood streaked past throwing balls of flame as Hecate charged after him.
“Hey hero the road’s melting.” Isobel the EMT yelled. “So is the ambulance.” She shrieked as the Vulture and Beetle took to the skies and landed on the nearest building followed by Kraven, his body aflame as he climbed to escape the heat.
“Hang on.” Humbug yelled as his legs caught alight. “No I won't, I won't listen to you.” He yelled at his backpack on the passenger seat. “I need to save Colleen. What, together? No I won't, I won't…I have to go back.” He sighed before diving into the ambulance and removing a helmet from the bag, the device fusing to him and covering him with thick biological armour. With not so much as a grunt Humbug picked up the ambulance and flared a new set of wings from his back and lifted the melting vehicle off the ground and onto the opposite roof to the villains. “You'll be fine.” He told Isobel as the Beetle looked at the Vulture and vice versa as Kraven rolled to put out the fire and with a hiss the former took flight and flew towards him before being shot out of the sky by a laser blast from the helmet.
“Buck?” A voice moaned causing Mitty to turn and see Colleen Wing open her eyes. “What have you done?”

Hecate took the blast of demonic energy square in the chest, the blow sending her crashing through a massive skyscraper, glass and steel shattering as she flew before she grabbed hold of a door frame and stopped her flight. With a look that caused the building to shake and morph into burning balls of metal she let loose sending wave after wave of the projectiles at the Hood, the majority deflecting off of a hastily erected mystical shield. With a mocking smile Parker saw Hecate flash the same look back as the deflected orbs coalesced into a river of molten steel that wrapped around him before dragging him into the ground.
Following him down Hecate landed on the concrete and felt the earth shake as hundreds of stone hands lashed out, trying to grab her before shattering open to reveal and army of Hood doppelgangers, each one holding a fireball before flinging them at her, the projectiles exploding into a massive ball of fire as the duplicated faded. “Puny God.” Parker snorted before noticing the fire collapsing in on itself, the force dragging loose vehicles and debris towards it into a massive violet ball of energy. Concentrating the Hood pulled back elongating the energy field before watching as it sparked out to reveal Hecate, hands on hips surrounded by a pack of white spectral wolves. “You think to use nightmares against me?” Parker hissed as the wolves charged only to be blasted back to the underworld by a wall of lightning.
“They do make a great distraction.” Hecate purred as Parker’s head erupted with purple energy, his body rippling as he saw a pair of violet tinted hands grasp inside him and start to pull a dark cord from his chest.
“My…soul…is…not…for…you!” Parker grunted as he thought inwards and summoned his own hands that pulled against Hecate’s until the demonic essence was once again contained. “Witch let’s see what your soul is like.” He snarled before plunging forwards and stabbing his hands into Hecate’s chest only to see a trio of birds erupt out of her body; a dove, owl and raven, their absence making the goddess mortal shell wilt and collapse into aconite flowers.
“We are three bound as one.” The dove purred.
“You are two chained together.” The owl continued
“But this city only has one master.” The raven croaked before the birds vanished in a flash of purple light as Hecate’s human form stepped out of the glow. “And that will always be me.”

Thundra blocked the blow from Ossuary only to feel Camazotz slash her across the back, the blow causing her to fall to her knees. Behind her Cloak was desperately summoning dark-force chains in an attempt to bind the demi-god to the ground only for the creature to spit balls of dark energy back at him. Dagger has long since peaked and was desperately shielding Curtis as he lay broken in the debris field of the Crossroads Casino.
“Face it mortals.” Camazotz hissed. “You are beaten; surrender and I will make your deaths serve a higher purpose.”
“We’re not buying that.” Dagger grunted as she let loose a hail of light daggers at the Mayan demon, the darts shredding through his wings and sending him flailing to the ground. “Now Cloak he’s down.”
“Something is coming.” Cloak gasped as the ground shook.
“Something bad?” Thundra asked as Ossuary gripped her in a burning man-hug, violet flame running up and down her body. Cloak shook his head and pointed as the ground erupted outwards and a massive mossy figure as well as a smaller figure armed with a staff emerged, the sudden arrival causing the sun to finally crack through the gloom, the sunlight causing Camazotz to scream in fear and pain.
“God of Darkness meet Asgardian Sun Stave.” Jennifer Kale stated as she charged up her weapon and blasted the bat monster with a beam of light that caused the air around it to burn. With a scream Camazotz staggered back, his chest aflame before collapsing into a pool of darkness that slithered away to safety. Spurred on Thundra stabbed her fingers into Ossuary’s eyes and ripped his head off, the trauma causing the golem to drop her. Spinning around the rock monster lumbered up the hill and barged Kale out of the way before slamming a fist into Man-Thing. Retaliating Man-Thing lashed out, his blow shattering stones off of Ossuary’s shoulder whilst the golem ripped chunks of greenery from his organic counterpart.
“I thought that Man-Thing burnt everything it touched. I remember seeing it down in ‘Box Town’ a while back.” Dagger gasped.
“The Golem has no fear.” Jennifer told her as Thundra helped her up. “This will just end in mutually assured destruction. However this may be of use.” She said as she took the stone head and burnt into the core before magically illuminating the stone and bone construct. “May your aim be true.” She stated as Thundra reclaimed the head and lobbed it at Ossuary, the projectile shattering on the golems back and exploding into gravel, his body following suit. “He’s not permanently destroyed, only his true master can do that and he resides in the land of the dead. Still that should keep him quiet for a few days at least.”
“Can you help Misty?” Dagger asked as Curtis budged over to reveal the comatose body of the Hero for Hire.
“No.” Jennifer answered. “She’s protected by foul magic, ones akin to the powers of the gods. It is up to her to escape.”

Marty awoke as the smell of herbs rolled across his nostrils. “What smells so good?” He said drearily as Barracuda’s hideous mangled face swam into view.
“You.” The Hitman snarled, his words causing Marty to panic. “Don’t bother you ain’t escaping those bonds.” He stated as the Gibbon writhed and rolled before with a snap the rope broke and he was free. “Well look at that. Time to slaughter the little piggy.” Barracuda stated menacingly as he pulled a cleaver out of his belt. Not waiting for his adversary to close the gap Marty leapt across the makeshift fire, a burning dustbin, and grabbed a slab of mangled car from the ground.
“Get back, don’t make me do this!” He warned Barracuda as the hit-man advanced swinging the cleaver around madly. With an insane laugh the cannibal charged in only to see Marty duck under his blow and lash out with his improvised weapon, the blow knocking the cleaver out of his hand. “Please don’t make me do this!!” Marty pleaded as he sank his teeth into Barracuda’s arm causing the big man to scream in pain before grabbing the squirming Gibbon by the neck and squeezing hard.
“I wish I got to taste the little Jap slut.” Barracuda snorted. “Always did like sushi.” He added, his words burning into Marty until they bubbled to the surface and he screamed a simian war cry at the top of his lungs and kicked Barracuda hard in the groin. Doubling over in pain the hit-man didn’t plead as Marty picked up the burning bin and emptied the contents over him, the burning flames sending him running down the street screaming in agony. Taking a deep breath Marty sat down on what was left of the road. “I told you not to make me do it.”

Misty watched as the Hood wrapped a whip forged of lightning around Hecate, millions of volts surging out of the goddess and into the ground. Standing beside her the Hooded Haunt held out a bony hand complete with a single black bullet cradled in her palm. “That round is cursed, it strips power permanently from the target, considering her age Hecate will collapse as soon as she is drained and will likely fade to dust.” She added as the bullet slipped inside Misty’s police issue Glock 18.
“I still don't like this.” Misty told her as Hecate charged forward and head-butted the Hood, her horns leaving five long slash marks across his face before they scarred and he slammed a burning fist into his assailant. Screaming in anger Hecate spat directly at his eyes, the acidic spittle burning their targets a milky white before leaving thick green track marks down the Hood’s cheeks.
“This woman is a monster, fell beyond imagining. Go now and take the shot.” The Hooded Haunt encouraged as the Hood got to his feet and summoned up a miniature funnel cloud burning with crimson energy, the wind storm wrapping around Hecate and binding her with chains of burning wind. “Do it now.” The Haunt urged as Misty blinked and stepped out in-front of the Hood her finger on the trigger, the bullet leaving the pistol and embedding itself into the centre head of Hecate.
“You killed her!” The left head gasped in surprise. “You killed her!!” she cried.
“She killed us.” The right stated as tears ran down the left heads cheek. “We're all dead; the Maiden, the Mother and the Crone.” She hissed as the Hood pushed Misty out of the way for a better look.
“But…but I'm only sixte….” The left head cried before Hecate’s body disintegrated into thick violet ash and aconite petals.
“Looks like my business here is done.” The Hood stated. “Now if you excuse me I have some gods to find.”
“You're not going anywhere.” Misty hissed as she levelled her pistol at the Hood only to see him fade away in a puff of scarlet smoke. “Okay I guess you are.” She sighed before tapping her headset. “This is Misty Knight does anybody read me?”
“Th…this is Cloak.” Cloak stuttered. “We're here at the Casino, me, Dagger, High-Tech and Thundra are still all here. We're all okay, the Golem and the Bat God are gone.”
“Marty there’s Marty.” Dagger yelled. “He’s limping.” She gasped as she ran over and handed him the headset. “Misty wants to talk to you.”
“Marty are you and Cherry Blossom okay?”
“Cherry is dead, some three headed woman killed her.”
“I killed Hecate.” Misty sighed. “She won’t hurt anyone ever again. I’m going to find Colleen and Humbug and then I’ll be there. Buck we did it where are you?”
“He’s gone.” Colleen answered as she sat on the edge of the building Humbug had placed her on. “He put the helmet on.” She added. “And now he’s gone.”
“That’s a problem for another day.” Jennifer stated as she took High-Tech’s headset. “We still have big problems down here.” She added as the remains of the casino shifted and a milky white hand appeared followed by a young woman’s head topped with a crown of thorns. “Hecate isn't dead I repeat she isn't dead.” She added as the single headed Hecate staggered forward and stopped as she reached Kale before flashing her an innocent smile.
“Hi I’m Cate.” She stated before extending her hand. “And you are?”
