Marvel Genesis: The Academy part one-recruitment:
Then:
Goliath turned to Justice,
"So we split up and try to recruit them."
"Give them better lives, yes."
"Then we finally team up..."
They spoke together "To free Speedball and Wiccan!"
Then:
The man fell unconscious, just as the muggers grabbed everything in his wallet.
"He's got tons of credit cards in here!" One said.
"Fifty, bucks? man, that's a better score than we usually got!"
Suddenly, the two men turned around to see a hulking figure walking towards them.
"You might want to consider putting that back." He said, sternly.
"Screw you, man!"
"He's just some guy in a costume!"
The men pulled out guns and fired at him. The man continued to walk, unflinching as the bullets richocheted off of him.
"!#@!!!" One of them shouted. "This guy's not fooling around!"
"The names Mettle." Mettle's fist clenched. "Be seeing ya."
He slammed his fist into one of the muggers, as the man fell to the ground unconscious.
He was about to hit the other man when a burst of energy slammed into the mugger.
Mettle turned around.
"Who--?"
"The names Justice," said Vance. "Tell me....do you like your life on the streets....or do you want something more?"
Mettle smiled.
"I'm listening."
Then:
Michael Van Patrick sat on his steps thinking about what to do with his life. He had lost all his scholarships. No school would accept him, all because of his heritage. Suddenly, he heard a voice.
"Michael Van Patrick. MVP?"
Michael jolted up.
"WHO ARE YOU?!" He demanded to know.
"A friend. Listen, my name is Bill Foster, and I know how your feeling.
Michael lowered his guard. "What do you mean?"
"I was born with the mutant ability to grow to gigantic size. When people found out about this, they stopped my experiments because they were afraid I had stolen pym particles."
"What does that have to do with anything? Why are you even here?!!"
"Listen to me, Michael, I had nothing, just like you....that was before a friend of mine came to me with an idea. We were both heroes, and we decided to build an institution to help other young aspiring heroes....we think you would fit the bill nicely.....You could be the next super soldier."
Michaels eyes widened.
"M-me?"
Then:
The house lay in ruins. Jeanne Focult's mother had a black eye and was missing teeth. She herself was battered and bruised.
"Don't....touch.....Mom...." She said weakly, trying to stand up for her.
"Shut it!" Her father shouted, slurring his words. "I don't care WHAT you think." He grabbed a baseball bat lying on the floor of an open closet.
"I'm gonna--"
Suddenly, a loud crash was heard, and Bill Foster crashed through the window of the house, tackling Jeanne's father.
"Jeanne, listen to me!" Bill said, struggling with her father. "I'm here to help! Get your Mom out of here! Now!
Jeanne's drunken father was no match for Goliath, who, with a solid right cross, took him out.
Goliath met Jeanne and her mother outside.
"Who...are you?" Jeanne asked.
"I'm here because I know who you are.....Finesse.
Jeanne backed away in shock.
"My name's Goliath."
"I-I know you! I've seen you on the news! You're that guy who's partner's with--"
"Justice, yes. We've decided to create an Academy to enrolled upcoming superhumans in. And I'd like you to join. It doesn't cost anything at all."
Jeanne's mother looked at her.
"I'll leave you two to think about it.
Then:
They fought in the woods. Laura Kinney slashed her half brother across the throat, causing him to collapse. She then unsheathed a claw on her foot and stab him in the gut with another kick. She then spun around and slashed his back. He returned with a slash across the face, and a kick to the groin. Suddenly, her brother began to weaken, and sway back and forth, until suddenly, he collapsed. Laura smelled I new scent.
"Who's there?" She said.
"My name's Justice!" Vance said, flying down. "I just shut your brother's brain down."
"I could've handled it myself."
"Say what you want, I did help."
"I DON'T NEED HELP!"
"Listen," Justice said, please hear me out. Me and my partner--"
"Goliath! I've heard about you on the news."
"Yeah, anyways, we're putting together a team for people who need help controlling their powers. People who can be heroes. We think you would be a great asset for us."
"Keep talking......."
Now:
Robbie Baldwin and Billy Caplan sat in their cells.
"What are you here for?" Robbie asked.
"Me? I touched a museum piece out of curiousity, and somehow gained these magical powers...something like that. I haven't figured it out. What about you?"
"Me? I'm a mutant. My power manifestation accidentally blew up my school, now HAMMER is torturing me."
"Same here."
"They're not a world-peackeeping force are they?"
Robbie let out a snort. "No, what makes you say that?" He said sarcastically."
Suddenly, the two heard the sound of gunshots.
"Something's going on outside!"
They lept to the window to see energy fly past them, and guard whizzed through the air.
"Damn." Robbie said.
Back away!" Shouted Billy. He grabbed him and threw him to the ground just as the door broke in by a massive fist. Justice and Goliath stood in the doorway.
"Hello kids....." Justice said.
"Welcome the the future......."
