This is a useless blog, thinks you. Isn't it? Probably.

But it took me ages to figure out how to do this quickly, efficiently, and with minimal interruptions to my writing.

I use a website called Grooveshark, but you could certainly use it on iTunes as well.
The trick is to build a playlist, roughly 30-40 songs, and set it on repeat AND shuffle. This way, you can get into a groove, and when you realize you've been listening to the same song for five and a half hours, you can hit the next song button, and will be magically transported to a new tune. The songs have to be similar or songs you really like, your timeless favorites.

And that's how Kira does it :}

nice strategy! certainly beats debating on what song you want to listen to while writing which in turn makes you lose all momentum with writing lol

I've never used Grooveshark before, but it looks interesting. I use Last.FM a lot. I've found it's not only a good way to listen to the music you like, but it also helps in finding new music. I've found quite a few bands I never knew about due to the playlist it created. That can also be a bad thing, though. Sometimes I get distracted checking out a new band or when I hear a song I hadn't heard in a long time and had forgotten about.

@Mechanical_Ape: I only use grooveshark now. I used to use Pandora, then I realized that it sucked.

@Hero1921: It's good to have a song like that. Have you ever listened to the Black Keys?

My 12 piece band knows to change their music to suit my mood when I write. I am too lazy to push any buttons. Writing a story is stressful enough as it is.

So i'm not the only person in the world who listens to music while writing? =D

Cool!  I normally listen to my Ipod playlists for a couple hours lol.  Heavy metal really clears the mind for typing. =)

Usually, I don't hear songs while I'm writing. But it sounds a good idea though. I can hear this song while I'm writing the Freaks series. One of my favorites. This song can keep me writing on and on. Well, not only this song but I do hear other songs as well. There are lots of good ones.

I know! I can knock out eight good pages in a day if I get into a rhythm.
