(First off I'm gonna rate this T. Secondly I shall say the characters of Marvel are not of my own creations and all rights are reserved for Marvel, I just put my own spin on things. Lastly please feel free to leave comments. Enjoy)

eXcalibur Base of Operations: Xavier's Mansion - Oxford, England

Heavy footsteps shattered the silence as they padded down the narrowing corridor. A tall, handsome, blond haired, blue eyed man was running, with determination, he was escaping, trying to get away, from something, something bad, a demonic creature, a creature of nightmares, his nightmares. Long ago. A childhood memory. He wanted to leave it behind, but it kept coming back. This is not real he kept reminding himself, It has all gone topsy-turvy, this is not actually happening, he shook his head at the thought. His name was Brian Braddock, leader of the team eXcalibur, head teacher of Xavier's Oxford Institute for the Specially Gifted and globally appreciated superhero, Captain Britain. He had found himself in a bit of a pickle, and was ready to get to the bottom of it.  Looking around the corridor Brian shook his head at almost every thought that came to pass, it was impossible, so long, never ending. One wall was just that, a wall, no doors, just plastered brick, faded with age, how odd, a school corridor with no doors, peculiar one must think, on the other side was window pane after window pane, yet it was so dark outside you could hardly see the upward rain. Upwards? How had Brian not noticed that. This place, wherever it was, was not somewhere Brian wanted to be.

He was close now, to the door at the end of the corridor, he did not know where it lead to, all doors lead somewhere different, but it might help him escape the creature, Brian looked over his shoulder, he could feel it coming, approaching the corner, about to be on his tail once more. A foot or two away from it now and Brian reached out and touched the door knob, it was at that moment that his entire universe seemed to converge on one point, he twisted and found his way in, he spun closing the door and pressing his back to it in one fell swoop. He breathed heavily, he was worried, fearful almost, that he would be facing that same long corridor once more. He was not. Instead Brian was bombarded with a flashing of red lights and the beeps of mechanical goods. It was the operation's room in the Mansion. The room was empty, a few monitors on a wall with a control panel and a table in the center of the room that extended from the floor, but on the other side was another door. Brian headed straight for it, but halfway there his attention was grabbed, all the monitors lit up with faces, all except the central, which remained a black screen. He slowly approached, each monitor flickering between teammates, he spotted Callisto, Nocturne, Meggan, Dazzler, Psylocke, Captain Midlands, Pixie, Wolfsbane, Lionheart, Cain "The Juggernaut" Marko, Pete Wisdom, Spitfire, Blade, the list goes on. Each of them were screaming out to him.

He reached out to touch the face of his beloved Meggan, the screen was cold. Then he caught eye of himself in the middle, he looked ragged and unwell, his hair was scraggly and dirty and he head a bushy beard that was ran wild, his cheeks were less filled than when he had last looked and the black screen did not reflect his ocean blue eyes and instead left them hollow. Then a bright, young, fresh faced Magneto replaced him, "Good evening Brian" Erik said breezily to the monitor. "Good morning Erik" said back the bedraggled Brian, questioningly. "Is it not a bit late for you to be up?" Erik queried, "Come now" said Brian "It is never too early to get a head start on the day" he grinned, he was confused the replies already seemed in place for him. "How is home?" Erik asked. "It is surviving..." Brian replied, "In fact, that is a lie. It is is striving! the strongest it has been for over a century" he exclaimed, yet he did not know why. "That is good to hear old friend" Erik said. "Anyway," Brian began, yet he had nothing on his mind, "I have called to check in to ask what of your mutant activity" he baffled himself, "what of it?" Erik asked, "well to be blunt, has it increased?" Brian put forward, though he found it irrelevant to his predicament, "yes" Erik sighed. Radio silence "as I feared" came the wary voice of Britain, then static and Brian was left rather confused, with the feeling of being possessed new in his veins. A memory.

With a quick turn on the heel he burst through the next door, he landed on the same scene, he paused for a little while and decided he would have better luck a second time around, he got halfway a second time and the faces appeared on the monitors, he stopped and hung his head, sighing, "Good evening Brian" Erik said breezily, Brian caught a glimpse, but just that, he did not want to get dragged up into a preplanned conversation. He burst through onto the same scene for a third time, he decided to jog across, he got halfway, but did not stop, "Good evening...", a fourth time, "Good...", a fifth, a sixth, a seventh and so on and so forth. Brian started to feel that he was getting into a routine of running. He stopped on what he counted to be the hundredth time through the door, he was exhausted, he had lost his superhuman abilities, he had lost his willpower. Brian reached at the amulet in his chest, it had faded, it did not glow the resilient red he had gotten used to. This however was no time to give up. The familiar faces appeared on the screen, Brian however, could not handle it, he roared in a fit of rage and reached for the table in the center and ripped it clean from it's foundations, wires flailing everywhere, with tremendous strength he threw it into the monitors with the last of his willpower. It exploded into millions of pieces, all the familiar faces gone. The explosion hung in midair, still, absolute, not doing anything, Brian tapped a shard and then everything reverted. The screens were not smashed and the table lay perfectly in place, however the familiar faces did not form, instead the screens revealed one big Cheshire cat grin that slowly protruded from the screen, "want to play a game?".
