Six months.... Six months it had been since the weird humans had started eating the regular humans. Grundy didn't mind... well he did when the weird ones tried to eat Elizabeth and her mother. Grundy had killed... he growled. Lots of the dry humans, though they seemed to be everywhere. The juicy humans... regulars seemed tended to avoid Grundy, noticing the woman and the child and running on as he growled. They were all safe in his swamp... his kingdom, where the crocodiles, the insects and even the rot respected his sovereign rule. Grundy stood quickly as he heard Elizabeth cough, each hack caused the little bundle to shake.
"Grundy?" Elizabeth's mother said. He grunted, "Elizabeth, needs medicine Grundy. She has a fever." That word... Fever Grundy knew that wasn't good, "Grundy we have to leave this swamp its not good for her body." Grundy growled louder, the little bundle was getting smaller and it lost the pinkish color it had five months ago. He could feel some sort of twinge as the bundle coughed again.
"Wh..what..Solo..mon do.. to hel..help. Lisabeth?" The woman's face brightened as she stood holding the bundle close to her, "We need to go into town Grundy. Find her something to eat and a newer place to stay." Grundy growled at the idea, he hated the possibility that he may lose the only place he ever called home.
"Call me anything but sir will you?" Grundy was having another flashback, "An older man strikes the younger boy. "Well i'll show you!" The next memory was of being surrounded by dirt, it seeped into Syrus's eyes. He wept as the dirt filled his mouth and his ears and eyes." Solomon stood and roared loudly, the woman clutched Elizabeth close to her chest as he continued roaring. Stopping only as he heard Elizabeth crying,
"Let...s. Go..Gotham." He began to shuffle out of the swamp, the woman following closely behind him. Grundy shuffled towards Gotham, this trip had always been the same for him. Violence always followed whenever he entered the city. Anything or anyone that went after Elizabeth or her mother were crushed without remorse. Grundy just had finished separating a dry human's head from its body, he threw its discarded body to the side. A grunt was the signal for them to continue down the side walk layered with bodies all with some sort of gruesome death marks. Grundy ignored the slaughter but he heard the woman gasping and saying something that sounded to Grundy like "o mah jaw," but hat couldn't be it. He put his hand up signalling for the woman to be quiet. It was almost absolute quiet as a large crowd of dry humans passed by them both. Grundy's yellow eyes followed them as they stopped turned and all moaned at once. Grundy roared back at the crowd stepping in front of the woman, he looked at her as the crowd shuffled at them. She was shaking,
"Just... Stay... behind Grundy." He roared again as he stomped onto the pavement, throwing the first couple Dries into the air and he flexed smashing into the rest. Heads and limbs flew, as all the Dry humans ignored Grundy and tried to go for Elizabeth and her mother. Grundy would not allow it he grabbed any Dry that moved to close and destroyed them without mercy. One clawed at the woman's pants, tearing a hole down her jean.
"GRUNDY!!!" She screamed, he pivoted and charged, clapping on the Dry's head and it popped like a blood filled balloon drenching the woman from the neck down in its blood. She barfed onto the sidewalk and took off, the horde's eyes followed her and they all took off after her. Grundy shook his head and bounded after the set, confused why the woman had run. Grundy was trying to save her... why had she?
Grundy charged through the Dries trampling those foolish enough to stand in his way. Crunches and moans emitted all around him. But soon the whole horde stopped, and something felt warm in the air. Hotter than the dancing flames, that is when the whole front row of dries burst into flames. They moaned loudly and continued forward, Grundy clenched his muscles and propelled himself upwards a good fifty feet into the air. Mid flight he was hit hard by something and sent crashing into a building, his vision focused for a moment as he saw a red and blue flash, dive back into the Dry fray.
"Superm..." A blonde streak of hair came from the crowd as Grundy saw a young woman in the red and blue, "Super...Girl." Grundy dislodged himself from the building and dropped to the ground with a solid Thud! He looked left and right as dries flew all over the place. He saw the woman and Elizabeth running in distance as he chased after them.
That was when he was hit again and lifted into the air,
"STAY AWAY FROM THEM!" The young girl had her arms wrapped around his head as she lifted him up. Grundy head butted backwards quickly, dazing the girl as she dropped him. He hit the street hard, making a crater. He slugged off after the woman and child they had stopped running and looking at Grundy, she was pointing up but Grundy was to slow to turn as he was hit from behind and flattened out. He lie there stunned for a moment and felt blow after blow rain on his head. He lie still.
Ramona watched as the superhero known as Supergirl pound her protectors head over and over again.
"STOOPPP!!!" She shouted running forward towards the hero, "Please!!" The hero turned and grabbed her.
"Ma'am," the hero said with steely blue eyes, "Come with me."
"STOP! HE WAS PROTECTING ME!!" Ramona started, "GRUNDY!!!"
"Ma'am," Super girl started, but Ramona pulled away and a splatter of zombie blood from her shirt hit Super girl in the face. She fell to the street on her knees gagging and spitting. Ramona ran to Grundy's side with Elizabeth,
"Grundy?" She whispered poking the body, "Grundy?" Ramona almost cried as he was still. Her situation was made worse when she heard a moan emit from Super Girl's lips. Ramona watched her turn around to face her, her eyes the yellow bloodshot red of all the other zombies. She closed her eyes as Super girl ran forward.
