I was thinking that there's just so many stories/movies/manga/images/comics out there about the proverbial dark city, or 'city on fire,' or hell-city, or 'apocalypto city,' that we should look for definitive presentations of what comprises the real psyche paranoia of pedestrian destabilization. It seems to be fascism.

The now very very popular American comic book superhero Batman (DC Comics) is the ultimate urbanization defender and street vigilante, tackling criminally insane terrorists who destabilize metropolis and democracy.

So here goes (I've borrowed terms/avatars from comics and other assorted media). This is a dark-city vignette of a brooding but hopeful NYC over-taken by fascism.

====

"After the successful invasion of New York City by a radical socialist group named Red Skull which has already taken over the nation of Canada and is funded by both the Taliban and North Korea, America becomes subject to fascism experiments.

Red Skull is led by a masked tyrant named Cobra Commander and a wily and hypnotic female vizier simply called the Baroness.

After four years of rule, NYC has become a militarized zone and America is now called the Federation of Profiteers.

A lowly bureaucrat in this new savage landscape decides to defy this new dominion. His name is Alas and he seeks to be a Robin Hood. Alas decides he will use his salary to purchase large quantities of toy water-pistols and distribute them to kids during Halloween and write editorials in the local newspaper about pedestrian vigilance about anti-violence.

The only one who can help him is a journalist woman named Edie, a republican philosopher who also believes in democracy.

Unfortunately, unknown to Alas, Edies's twin sister named Elana is a spy for Red Skull and is suspicious of her sister's activities. Alas and Edie now need a quiet miracle."
