Black Widow (BW) and Nova were at the Avengers headquarters when it happened. A man suddenly appeared in the room they were in and said "abra cadabra" and threw a handfull of powder in their faces followed by a poof. They blacked out and when the others got into the room BW was a man and Nova was a woman! The intruder was gone.
Fortunately the faithful butler Edwin Jarvis was on duty and soon arrived at the scene. He told everyone to not touch the powder. Captain America said they didn't touch anything. Jarvis said that BW and Nova should be decontaminated immediately. BW was now a tall muscular handsome man. The hair color and eye color hadn't changed for either. Nova was now a medium height, voluptuous woman. Cap. America and Spiderwoman took them to the decontamination facility. They had a hard time not laughing. The victims said it wasn't funny at all. After decontamination BW and Nova were given robes and went to the lab.
Jarvis said he had analyzed the powder and found that it was a rare concoction known to few people. He said he could make an antidote but it wouldn't be finished until the next day. Cap said the security tape for that room was being checked to see if they could tell who the intruder was. He said if they got a decent image plus the arcane nature of the powder should help them find the culprit. He said BW and Nova should pull themselves together and wait until the antidote was ready.
At HQ there was a bountiful supply of clothing to be used for undercover work. Cap helped BW getting adequate men's clothing. BW was obviously nervous because of sweating and blushing and Cap said he would look the other way if it would help. So he left the changing room and waited for BW to come out. BW emerged looking like a well dressed athletic young man. Spiderwoman escorted Nova to get clothed. This process was more difficult. Spiderwoman left the changing room but Nova came out and obviously wasn't wearing a bra. Spiderwoman told Nova to go back and put the underwear on. Nova looked very selfconsious on coming out of the changing room.
Both BW and Nova were feeling uncomfortable. BW thought Nova was beautiful and said so. Nova wasn't sure how to respond to this comment and said that BW was very handsome. Nova said that maybe they were experiencing new feelings after changing sexes. BW gave Nova a hug and a kiss and said that everything would be okay. Spiderwoman suggested that the two of them should go out for dinner and a movie. Cap dared them to go out. BW said that if was okay with Nova, they would go out. Nova didn't want to disappoint anyone and agreed to go out.
Now they needed new clothes for a night out. BW found a tux that fit. Nova came out wearing an evening gown but thought it was too revealing. Spiderwoman made sure the undergarments were right. Nova was given high heals but couldn't walk in them. Everyone laughed. They found appropriate shoes with lower heals which worked much better. Cap pronounced that the pair looked perfect and that Nova was particularly lovely.
They had reservations at an upscale restaurant. When leaving HQ, Nova reached to open the door for BW but BW was the main now. BW opened the door for Nova. BW whispered "this is all very confusing." At the restaurant, the waiter asked if the lady was ready to order and BW started to answer but let Nova order first instead. After placing the order BW whispered to Nova to be careful eating so as to not spill food in her cleavage. Nova attracted some attention by being so careful eating. When dinner was over Nova was proud that she hadn't spilled any food.
BW made sure to ask for the check and paid for it and they left for the theater. At the theater they needed to use the restroom and started to go into the wrong one's but caught themselves before going too far. They were still embarrassed. On leaving the theater, some punks made disparaging remarks about Nova and BW punched the leader in the nose and said "don't ever talk that way about her." Nova whispered "thanks."
BW escorted Nova home and they each retired to their respective rooms. Although bed clothes were there for them, neither wanted to go through the trouble of putting them on and slept in their underwear. They were both disappointed upon waking to find that they had really changed sexes. At breakfast Jarvis announced that the antidote would be ready by noon that day so they only had a couple of hours to wait. At noon they reported to the infirmary where Jarvis recommended they lie on cots in case they fainted. He gave BW the first shot and Nova the second. There was no poof but gradually their bodies changed and after an hour they were back to normal. They were so excited to be themselves again they hugged everyone.
A little later Nova as a man now suggested that he and BW, a woman again, should go out for dinner and a movie the next evening. BW said "sure!, we can each show the other how it is supposed to be done." They both laughed.
After dinner the couple was asked what they had learned from their experience. BW said "I think we both learned not to take things for granted." Nova said he also learned that women have it harder than men!"
