I have an idea for a Batman/Green Arrow comic, which i think would be interesting.

Has anyone seen Alfred Hitchcock’s 1944 film 'Lifeboat'?

It’s about a group of survivors during WW2 who has taken shelter on a lifeboat after a shipwreck, in this boat the survivors start to conspiracy that a Nazi spy is on board. The tricky thing here is that they are all trapped in a small place, and cannot talk about it without the spy, or if there is a spy, to not hear about it.

My idea is based on this film, but set in the DC universe, probably set in Batman’s career before the events of Knightfall.

It starts out with Bruce Wayne having a big meeting with another company, Queen Industries, which it is starting to go bad for because of a war taking place in the fictional Arabic DC country of Qurac where Queen Industries is buying and selling their oil from.

No Caption Provided

The meeting is about a potential purchase of the company, making Queen Industries an affiliate of Wayne Enterprises. In Qurac a rival American oil company owned by Thomas Reese Blake (Catman) is active, still going strong, which is something that steers up questions from Wayne Enterprise and Queen Industries. Later Bruce Wayne, Oliver Queen (who don't know each other’s true identities yet) and a group of co-workers get a hold of Blake which agrees to a meeting in at his facilities in the country. Safe and sound the plan lands in Qurac and at the airfield a limousine followed by a group of escorting jeeps picks them up, they drive thru the dessert and later arrives at Blake’s facilities.

There Blake greets them, showing them around the factories before asking to alone speak with Bruce and Oliver. He tells them a bunch of how the country works, how money rules everything, and if you are just willing to put a nice sum of money in the right person’s hands they will not care about your business in the country.

Both Bruce and Oliver, discusses the situation with Blake whom don’t want to tell who or what people to talk to, to settle the problems with Queen Industries no longer able to harvest oil from the land. After the meeting, Bruce, Oliver and there business workers are shown their rooms for the night. Both Bruce and Oliver start to dive and research Blake and his work, and during the meeting earlier, Bruce stole Blake’s finger prints from a coffee cup, sending it over to Gotham for inspection by Oracle. She finds out that Blake can be traced working with terrorists and illegal hunting and trading of wildcats in Africa years earlier. This awakens Bruce that something is not right about this place, and tells his new business partner Oliver.

The next morning a happy Blake is entering the chambers asking them for a visit to the ancient temples in the dessert. Both Bruce and Oliver declines and asks for their plane to get ready for noon, and tells Blake they are heading back to America, and that they want nothing to do with Blake’s company at all. Blake smiles and tells his men to get the plane ready. Later at the airport it comes out that the Wayne Enterprise plane is broken but that they can all get on another plane heading to America. A rusty old American Hercules military plane drives out on the airstrip, Blake politely thanks Bruce and Oliver and the rest of their accomplices for the visit and whishes them a safe trip home, then last of all he tells them they will be joined by a group of American soldiers also heading home to the states because of a nearby army camp in the country.

Seated in the plane, a man comes out from the cockpit; an American pilot named Janos Prohaska (Blackhawk) greets everyone welcome onboard and tells them that the plane will head directly to Gotham and then continuing further to Central City and Star City. On the front row of the plane, Bruce and Oliver is seated. On the row behind them a rugged afro American male is sitting, reading a magazine and chewing some gums, with his feet up on the backside of Olivers seat.

Oliver asks him to put his feet down and the man throws his magazine on the side and tells Oliver “What’s your problem Blondie? I don’t think you have just spent seven months on the open sea, feeling nothing but sweat dripping from the bunk bed above or gotten the saltwater in your already sore red eyes. I think I am worth putting my feet up for what I’ve done for my country.” Oliver politely says his sorry and asks for the man’s name. The man replies “David (Black Manta) is my name, if that really is so important to know.” Behind David another man is seen sitting listening in on the conversation. He is pretty tall, and with a blonde ponytail, he is feeding a little bird hidden under his jacket before it flies out from the pocket and in to the inside of the plane. (This man is Bird, one of Banes companions from Knightfall).

No Caption Provided

The bird flies over another man, sitting further back in the plane, he wears an eye patch, smoking a half burnt cigar and has black hair with stripes of grey hair going thru it, as the bird flies over him he crushes the bird in his hands. Bird, looks at him frightened, “boss, I’m sorry, he wasn’t meant to fly away”. The man with the eye patch takes a big hit of the cigar and blows it out in Birds face before leaning back and looking out of the window. Bruce is getting everything happening behind him but tries to control himself without getting involved. The plane shakes and starting to bump in the wind, it is now over the clouds. From the back door a man comes out wearing an outfit resembling a wildcat (Blake), he draws a gun and shoots one of Oliver and Bruce co-workers in the back of the head, a loud bang is heard thru out the plane. Bruce directly turns around and leaps toward Blake (Now obvious he is Catman). Catman yells at Bruce that there is no other option but to kill them. Bruce leaps over to Catman, punching him in the face, Catman slints and shoots a hole in a window, making everyone not strapped in their seats fly up and hit the roof.

Everything goes black.

Oliver is waking up in a snowy forest, he get himself together and sees some smoke, and starts heading that direction. Thru the forest he can see the crashed plane, and a camp fire, around it, Bruce, David (Black Manta), Bird, another tall and bulky man, some of the surviving co-workers of Bruce and Oliver and last the man with the eye patch is sitting. Oliver walks up to the fire, and Bruce gets him a jacket from one of the suitcases covering the ground.

And this is where it all begins to take shape like in the film Lifeboat, why was Blake a.k.a Catman so stupid to get on the plane in the first place, why not just get rid of them on the ground? Who is responsible for all this, and why was all the other guys also on the plane, where they really just American soldiers?

The events goes on and the conspiracy of who is behind all this starts to take shape during a week trapped in this ice cold snowy forest, where they have to battle wolfs, hunger (cannibalism is involved, yes Bruce Wayne eats parts of human corpses to stay alive), and fight of the freezing cold. Bruce Wayne doesn’t know Oliver is Green Arrow, nor do Oliver know Bruce is Batman. No one of them knows they are sharing a fire with Black Manta, the upcoming Batman baddie Bird in Knightfall, the tall and bulky man whom later turns out to be Mike Rory a.k.a Heat Wave, the pilot Janos Prohaska (Blackhawk) and finally the man with the eye patch who some of you already has figured out is Deathstroke, who is hired to set all this up and kill Batman, Green Arrow and Catman by his new boss Lex Luthor, who is planning to take control over Qurac’s oil for his own company.

It is basically a tale of who is who, why and how, what is what, and of survival. A tale where we don’t see Bruce or Oliver in costumes, but still see their true potential in there rawest form, without fancy gadgets or weapons. Its mano a mano.

Who wins? And what happens next, Bruce learns of Oliver’s true nature as Green Arrow by his fantastic archer abilities and hunting, and Oliver never learns of Bruce abilities, because Batman is that great to keep things secret. After the event and true story of Deathstroke’s goal, that Bruce never had to show his other side to get to. Bruce, Oliver, Blackhawk and Heat wave, the only one that was actually on the plane not to get to Bruce or Oliver, hikes successfully back to mainland, somewhere in a European forest and are able to head home safe. What happened to Deathstroke or Black Manta? In this version, they both die, as small men, failed and humiliated, left behind in the cold rugged land, eaten and dead.

Characters in this fan-fic:

Bruce Wayne (Batman)

Oliver Queen (Green Arrow)

Thomas Reese Blake (Catman)

Janos Prohaska (Blackhawk)

David (Black Manta)

Angel Vallelungua (Bird)

Mick Rory (Heat Wave)

Slade Wilson (Deathstroke)

@impurestcheese: Thanks, i like the idea of a more political and adventure/survival take on it, rather than an all-out superhero story. Whish there would be more of that in the comics, exploring Bruce and Oliver as business men.

@impurestcheese: He can. So can many of the big brain big pocket crowd. Which is why I found the letter read in Thomas's voice to Bruce in the Arkham Knight trailer filled with enough irony to sedate a blue whale.

Bruce literally did everything Thomas would rather he didn't. Dude, you ever think that maybe all that tech you used to make you're gadgets and armor could have been used to help the Blind and diseased??
