Ancient Greek Pelasgians.

In the beginning Eurynome, Queen of the circling universe and the goddess of all things rose naked from chaos, but found nothing substantial for her feet to rest upon, and therefore divided the sea from the sky, dancing lonely upon its waves. She danced towards the south and the wind set in motion behind her, seemed something new and apart with which to begin a work of creation. Wheeling about she caught hold of this north wind and rubbed it between her hands, and behold! The great serpent Orphion! Eurynome danced to warm herself, wildly and more wildly until Ophion grown lustful coiled about her limbs and was moved to couple with her.

-Graves. R. p. 27.

While she may have come to regard him as her son, in reality he is but a part of her, never to actually be born. The serpent son is a clear sign of her desire for a child. The serpent lover is a clear sign of her desire for a husband.

Basque

Mari the eldest of the Basque goddesses was a mountain goddess. She rules Earth and her elements and she is wife to Maju the dragon who appears also as a snake.

-Illes.J. p 402.

Wahungwe of Zimbabwe

They oiled their loins and had intercourse. This they did, this night, and every night thereafter. Every morning Morongo gave birth to the animals of creation. Then she gave birth to human boys and girls, who became full-grown by that very same evening. God spoke in a fierce storm, and told Mwuetsi he was hastening his death with all this procreation. Morongo, instructed Mwuetsi to build a door to their habitat so that God could not see what they were doing. He did this, and again they slept together. Now in the morning Morongo gave birth to violent animals; snakes, scorpions, lions, etc. On the next night Mwuetsi wanted to couple with Morongo again but she told Mwuetsi “Why don’t you have intercourse with your daughters they are full grown”, so he did, and he became king of a great people. Morongo was sleeping with the snake. Morongo no longer gave birth. She lived with the snake.
