In the good soil of The-Spirit

Stood the stump of The-Tree that was cut down.

The-Man watered the stump and it came to life.

A new tree grew but it was not like The-Tree

It was a tree to partner The-Tree.

It was the Cosmic-Tree.

The Kayan

There was at first nothing but sky and water, when a huge rock fell from the heavens, and rising above the surface was covered with soil by the action of the little halang worms. Then from the sun was dropped the wooden handle of a big sword, which, taking root in the soil, grew to a great tree, with branches spreading over all the new land, and this was followed by a rope-like vine from the moon, which also took root and twined round the tree.

-ROLAND B. DIXON pp 155-159

Judaism/Christianity

‘Your mother was like a vine in your vineyard, Planted by the waters; It was fruitful and full of branches Because of abundant waters. ‘And it had strong branches fit for scepters of rulers, And its height was raised above the clouds So that it was seen in its height with the mass of its branches.

The-Cosmic Tree

There is hope for a tree, when it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And its shoots will not fail. Though its roots grow old in the ground and its stump dies in the dry soil, at the scent of water it will flourish and put forth sprigs like a plant. 171

Let me sing now for my well-beloved A song of my beloved concerning His vineyard. My well-beloved had a vineyard on a fertile hill. He dug it all around, removed its stones, And planted it with the choicest vine. And He built a tower in the middle of it And also hewed out a wine vat in it; Then He expected it to produce good grapes,174

Marduk laid a reed upon the face of the waters, He formed dust and poured it out beside the reed. That he might cause the gods to dwell in the habitation of their hearts’ desire,175
