GODHUNTER [introduction - a story from the human perspective]
 
Imagine a world where time can be controlled. A world where the fields of consciousness intersect and interact - thoughts moving thoughts. Emotions moving minds. 
 
In this world, a man - a former detective - sits in a dark candle lit room reminiscing of a world that time forgot. His mind is filled with former glory, memories already made that shift through the order of his mind like cards in a shuffle. 
 
An empty glass sits next to an empty fifth. An empty pack of cigs is propped on an empty lighter. An otherwise empty room. 
 
He was born Lincoln Cross. Born to a struggling actress and a penniless writer. His interest in law came from his rough childhood - the beatings, the hate, the theft. He dreams of one day taking them all down. Bringing them all in. But, when he got there, all of his old enemies had grown up. They had jobs and children of their own. And Lincoln Cross was stuck with a job that had to be done. 
 
Local City, New Dakota was known for its vigilantes. "The Masks" other guys on the force called them. You've heard of it before: a man who can melt steel, the guy with wings, girls who can crumple semi trucks. All enemies of the state who had to be brought in. Problem is, there isn't really a force for that. Not here. Not in New Dakota where the Masks are at there worst. There's just Detective Cross. Detective Cross and his empty life. He sits in a dark candle lit room reminiscing of a world that time forgot. A world where his only problems were getting beat up and robbed. 
 
Now?
 
Now a Mask who goes by The Dread kidnapped a little girl. The Mayor's daughter. And, The Dread? A man in a mask who can plant images in your mind. Images your worst enemy wouldn't wish upon you. The Dread made the last three commissioners retire. He made the Mayor stop looking for his daughter. Which leaves Detective Lincoln Cross...
