Spider-Man, Luke Cage and a few others ambushed Iron Man a few issues later in Civil War, and got stomped. Peter has also been soundly beaten by The Punisher in Iron Man's Armor.

There are a few instances of Peter getting the better of Iron Man, but generally Iron Man is shown to be significantly superior and this has been intended from relatively early on in their history.
