ok really went a bit radical with this one. first of all doc ock now uses alien technology and rogaine also he goes to the gym. he has a tattoo of an octopus running across his torso. oh and the tentacles(badly drawn) are black with synthetic skin(think shark or snake skin). at any rate here is a dude i call 'doctor octopus'. oh he also went down to pearle vision center when they had the free contacts with an eye exam deal and got a pair. further notes-he also wears a bondage style mask for mysterious(to me anyways) reasons
Goggles: Two separately sized eyes. Left is About double the size of the right for displaying of computer fed information. Mask: Gas mask style, hides face and is actually useful for filtering the air! Torso: He has a brown shoulder pad set up over a black, backless turtleneck. The shirt has to be backless to accomodate the "tentacles" coming out of his back. Arms: A padded set of sleeves attached to the shoulder pads (save for the interior of the elbows, under which can be seen the sleeves of the turleneck. Heavy brown leather gloved, inside would be lined with rubber and then a third lining of cloth for comfort. Very laboratory feel to them. Legs: Idealy, I wanted the pants to be decently loose cargo pants tucked into boots made similarly to the gloves. However, execution of the art for such, esepecially with this pose, is beyond my abilities. Waist: belt with many pouches for storage
Overall: I've put Doc Oct on a weight loss program to slim him down to a healthier weight and during the process he seems to have decided to let his hair grow a bit unruly to about shoulder length, perhaps a little beyond. The outfit as I intend it and as much as I can convey without color, has a very steampunk feel to it (goggles ftw). A brown/black color scene to compliment the clean steel lines of his tentacles. Harkening back to the Jules Vern - like vision of the world and tesla coils, something the doctor would certainly have in his lab!
I have been really busy with work and haven't had time to really sit down and do some art. I was looking over the past few months of contests and thought I'd post if the concept inspired me. I realize that I missed the deadline for this contest, but I really just wanted to post the idea that came to me for this redesign... a Victorian clockwork doctor...
Here is a Doc Ock pic I did awhile ago not really a sketch . but it's what gave me the idea to re do him as his costume is so lame as is you guys did a grat job on this contest.
