The lanky one on the left is Kristophel, a vampire of some 400 years who has made a "living" out of thievery and occasional hit-jobs. He is regarded with a distinctly high level of disdain and revile from those who know of him, including his own kind, for satiating his own selfish greed above keeping to any codes and traditions of any vampire brood. Despite not being as physically gifted as some other vampires are, Kristophel has a wit and a way of making sure he gets out on top in the end.
The floating one on the right is Nenetl, a cihuateteo ("divine woman"; the spirit of a woman who died during childbirth in Aztec lore) who had been bound to a small trinket by forces greater and darker than she was. But while travel space for her is limited, her strengths, powers, and will have all grown since her imprisonment. She's not wholly restrained to the natural desires than come with being a cihuateteo, though that doesn't mean she's winning against them all the time, either.
These two met purely by chance. Kristophel was setup to go and find some priceless artifact from some forgotten temple on wish from one of the few friends he actually had. But he was attacked by the men who had been sent with him deep inside the inner chambers. Against the physically stronger vampires, and without any plan for escape, Kristophel was beaten down and left to live out the rest of his immortal life going insane in an ancient tomb of which had been made no escape from. As it were, however, he had been left in a room full of many old trinkets and artifacts. The room had been built deep and down enough to keep a tethered spirit down, but here it was at last a chance for escape. Nenetl revealed herself, her story and powers, and offered Kristophel freedom on the premise that he get her our and away from her tiny prison. The vampire agreed, and now the dark duo have formed a rough alliance built solely on need for the hopes of revenge and rectification.
