Character Creation Contest #69

Looks like the character creation contest hit a wall with GodofArt out for a while and wildcats25 the runner up abdicating the thread creation. So another interesting idea offered by @icarusflies a long while ago that I'm shocked hasn't really been done yet- create an undead character.

That covers a pretty broad range - vampires, ghosts, ghouls, zombies, phantoms, mummies etc so lets see what everyone comes up with. All are welcome to enter, if there's any questions, feel free to ask.

Deadline will be 9/5 midnight PST.

@shatterstar: what are the criteria for this contest?

Create a new undead character, art must be your own and created within the time-frame of the contest. It can be any medium, any setting, any gender, whatever you want pretty much.

Just checking. I never entered a contest before, so in my excitement I didn't take notice to the artist show-off aspect lol.

@oscuro - If you were thinking about writing something as an entry, I'd be down to draw a picture for whatever you write. If that's the case, write it up and PM it to me with a description of the character and I'll draw it up. Could be fun.

Agreed, great entry.

Here is my entry, she's actually a character I created before called Gizelle Antrom (A witch who used to wear a necklace of human eyes from her victims). She was resurrected by a family member who's lack of magical skills brought her back as a vengeful zombie. Gizelle hacked the person to pieces and now hunts the descendants of the families who originally murdered her, collecting their eyes to restore her necklace.

The two entries that have already been posted are pretty good, a little intimidating, actually. Do we have to do a biography for this, or is it mainly about character design?

Its up to you if you want to create a backstory or not for the character, you can just post the image. Don't be intimidated, everyone is welcome to join regardless of what stage their at.

@lumdrop: Definitely don't be intimidated, I enter some of these and am nowhere NEAR the skill level of these guys. It's all about the fun of it :)

@egod: Very creepy. Nice. I like that you used grays and blacks on this one for the "undead" theme.

@bumpyboo: The concept and image of the undead teddy bear alone would have been great but you added the detail of him eating the entrails of the hapless mouse. Which bumps this *pun intended* to the boo level for certain.

@shatterstar - This isn't the first time I've had messages disappear after reading them. Just an FYI.

Was that as a PM or a notification? I've not had that experience personally so not sure what might cause that, might want to submit it in the bug reporting forum if you have steps to reproduce it.

@shatterstar - It was a PM conversation... a few back and forth. Just gone. I'll submit it in the right thread.

An undead Mer-Woman creature I drew. Initially was going to go black and white due to the type of paper used, but had to color it. The paper isn't conducive to markers very well so I had to make do best I could.

The colored version is my official entry.

@bumpyboo: Thank you. Glad you like it. I wanted to create something unique for the "undead" theme, something different. I had drawn a Mer-Woman character before but she wasn't "undead" or anything. I added the underside skin/webbing to give her an added creepy appearance but one that still identified her as an aquatic creature, like a stingray to a degree.

@shatterstar - Can we get an extension until tomorrow night? Unexpectedly ran into an issue with finishing mine...

Totally finished my picture... and then forgot to scan it. On the flip side, my son's ipod came through better then I expected it to. I used some metallic colors that didn't translate too well in the picture and I'll scan a better copy on Monday just to share outside of the contest.

I made this entry on behalf of @oscuro , who described the character to me and has a backstory idea for the character. Hope you like it dude! All votes go to Oscuro for his idea, not me.

Ahhh.... with over 100 characters under my belt. I really don't come up with a NEW character to often. Heck some of my characters we're made back in 1983. =)
