Awesome Art Picks: Batman, Daredevil, Star Wars, and More

Each week we gather up the best comic book art that you won't see in actual comics. The reason you won't is because artists often draw sketches for warm ups or commissions and post them on their blogs, websites, and Tumblrs. Some artists even arrange commissions through their sites so be sure to check them out.

Lots of great art, high notes for me are:

Nauck's GOTG/Star Wars piece- pure AWESOMENESS!! The Force is strong in this piece- make it happen Marvel!!

Smallwood's Hearts of Darkness- make this happen too, Marvel!!

Rod Reis' DD/Moon Knight- great piece of two of the definitive street-level heroes.

Francavilla kills it every time, as he continues to prove with his DD pieces.

Salas' DD pieces are awesome; stylized yet still keeping the gritty tone.

Henderson's Dredd, Nebula & Sauron- showcasing how bad@$$ all 3 characters are.

Rapmund's Captain America- love the bright colors, like the choice of a combo between the comic & movie looks.

Booth's DD, captures the street-level swashbuckling spirit of the character nicely.

@winter_kills: Yeah it would be perfect, I could see the Defenders bumping up against them for going too far.

Ah man that'd be cool...rumble of the street-levelers! (With DD & the Punisher you know it's gotta happen!) Like with DD, I think Netflix is the perfect place to get Punisher & GR revived & get them right.

@winter_kills: Yeah I agree. I would be worried about how expensive a GR tv show would be because of all of the FX though.

True a lot of FX would have to go in to make GR really look good. But man I'd love to see him done right, maybe in the gritty 90s sort of style- I love Johnny Blaze, but the 90s was the era of the GR renaissance, where he was up there with Punisher & Wolverine in popularity. Would love to see that happen again!

I also can't wait for 'em to get around to Iron Fist...interested to see how they do K'un-L'un & the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven.

@winter_kills: Yeah all the Netflix shows have had their main character cast and their show runner announced except Iron Fist so I really hope we get that soon.

@winter_kills: I loved this issue too! Makes me remember of John Wick... I always wanted to read GR and Frank Castle, and I've read Ultimate Blade (or a story with him on it). But for now Moon Knight is my go-to street level gritty guy!

I agree, that is one bad@ss issue, bro! One of the most knock-down, drag-out, kick@ss comic fight scenes I've seen in a looong time! I can see the John Wick in it, & the fight scenes from Oldboy(the original, not the remake lol). MK's one of my all-time faves, one of the street-level ultimates! (I loves me some DD too...have you had a chance to watch the new show yet?) DD, MK & Iron Fist are like my go-to street-level guys. Punisher, GR & Blade are always bad@ss- I can recommend you some great Punisher stories(my cuz is a HUGE Punisher fan). GR for me is at his gritty, street-level best in the 90s, fond memories of those books, they were pretty hardcore for the time.

@winter_kills: About DD, I'm waiting for lower resolution vids 'cause I'm a *cough cough* pirate. (I live in a country without Netflix, you see. Or maybe I dunno that we have Netflix here.) About the Punisher, based on what I've seen on previews the current series has done a pretty decent job.

Don't feel bad bro, I've only seen a couple of eps myself, & that's only because of my cousin's Netflix. I'm helping take care of an elderly relative right now, when they get well I hope to go over to his house & just binge-watch. But what I have seen is friggin' awesome, Cap:TWS-level good. (I've been a pirate myself- for years I've been a music pirate!! Arrr!! LOL)
