The legacy is dead with Tec Vol. 2 #1

From all the 52 this once I won't forgive.  Renumbering your namesake is really not caring about legacy and it is like a man changing his last name because his father's last name won't attract younger girls.  Yeah I said it.  This stunt of the 52 was to attract "new readers" or what I am calling younger girls.  Okay it is out of my system, time for the review.

First off Congrats to Tony S. Daniel's, one for finally getting to write Bruce and secondly being the second person to pen Detective Comics #1.  I'll admit your cover will be come a classic indeed.

Accessibility is the purpose of the 52 and familiarity is direction Daniel's went.  While Grant Morrison is refining a n icon, Daniel's went with characters movie goers would recognize at average.  Bruce, Alfred, James Gordon and the Joker all fill the main cast.  There are a couple of throw away character just because it is fun having Joker kill at random.  This issue is a good blend of plot driven as well as character driven.  We really see why The Joker is Batman's greatest foe and foil in the unraveling of this plot.

This was an entertaining issue and looks like it will be a great over all arc. The legacy however is dead and was it worth this single moment, I say no.  So its up to you if this is a must or not.

    Cheers

The controversial relaunch of Detective Comics by artist Tony Daniel has arrived, featuring a cat and mouse chase between Batman and Joker that would make for a fairly fun and exciting issue if not for Daniel burying it all under weak characterization and some pretty bad dialogue.  For the record, I am someone who doesn't believe DC should have relaunched this and Action Comics with new number ones. But I don't really care that they did either.  It was never something I felt strongly about one w...

So, here’s the new Batman for the New 52.   I’m not going to harp on this because I already ranted in my Action Comics #1 review, but if this is going to take 5 years in the past and it’s meant for new readers – they should say that!   Anyway, DC and AC seem to be five years in the past while Superman and Batman are in the present.   Like Action Comics #1, this issue appears to take place slightly before Justice League #1. So, since this takes place in the pre-super hero past, Batman is consid...
