one of those great stories
This has to one of the best stories in Batman lore (minus the original Mr. B's, of course). This combines the legend of Batman with a new age full of technology, ideas and consects. I like this movie (or Episode as it was) because it presents Batman in an entirely different light. It shows that no matter what age you are in, there will always be a Batman.
I liked how the creators of this show made a gang based on the classic idea of what the Joker stood for: crazness, jokes and of course the craving for money. It is an intriguing idea.
I was a bit sad that Terry's father had to die, but I guess great heroes are born from tragedy. It was interesting how they somewhat twisted the normal story (maybe twisted is not the right word...) of how on a moonlit night (It could have been moonlit) a couple are gunned down randomly, creating the man we all know now as Batman. Insteade they made him originally a fighter (insteade of having to training half his life, he already knows how to kick butt), a rebel from the start (or is that just what all teenagers are like?), his parents had seperated and it was the father who was gunned down. However, instead of it being random, his murder was atributed to orginized crime (with the true story of corruption of company heads...sound familar?).
This animated feature interduces us to a new brand of Bat. A new story, full of new ideas and new possiblilities. For those of us who have ever asked what happens after happily ever after, after all the smiles and hugs, after the credits rull and time has gone by; this is our answer; the story beyond the story. So, as one story is near sunset, another is about to rise. Bruce put it best when he said, "...and, Mr. McGinnis, welcome to my world."
