The Good
Art. Does this even have to be said? ANYTHING
Gabriel Hardman does turns to gold. He is hands-down one of my favorite artist/creators going right now. He's hard to beat. This book is worth picking up just for his artwork. **Note to self: get your hands on original Namora sketch **.
The Bad
Sad to say, but the plot wasn't the greatest. Everything seemed too convenient. This volume being my first real exposure to the team leaves more to be desired. This type of book seems really close to a Fantastic Four series. The stories seem to be similar (i.e. action/adventure storyline, closeness of teammates, mystical elements) and therefore I'm not really impressed. The writing wasn't bad...per se...it was just so-so and something that just got by.
Verdict (3.5/5)
Due to the averageness of the above mentioned items, I'm going to give this book an average, or so-so, rating of
3.5/5 (the artwork giving it an extra boost above the probably 2.0 I would have given it otherwise).
