Awesome Toy Picks: Punisher MAX and Power Man & Iron Fist

A selection of new and old action figures you should add to your collection.

It's time to check out some cool action figures. Each week we look at a figure you can still pick up in stores (and online shops) as well as an older (more collectible) one you might have to search around for.

This week, we're trying something a little different. For our newer selection, we're going to look at the Marvel Select re-issue of the Punisher, inspired by Garth Ennis' PUNISHER MAX comic. The new figures are more posable than the first versions so you can actually play with them a little more.

What we're doing differently this time is giving you a video look at the figure. Sure the pictures we take give you an idea how the figure looks and stand but we thought doing a video would give you an even better idea and look at the detail put into this selection.

As with most Marvel Select figures, a lot of detail and thought is put into them. They're not really action figures as you can't really play with them. But how many of you reading/watching this have the time to actually play with them?

As I mentioned in the video, these type of figures are like mini-statues. They are perfect for being displayed and with the price around $20, you not going to have to spend as much as you would on an actual statue to be able to add this to your collection.

Here's some more photos to check out the detail.

For our flashback figure, to go along with this, I thought I'd finally open an item also from Marvel Select. Get ready to check out Power Man and Iron Fist, a Toyfare magazine exclusive from 2004.

I did read the magazine in the early days and would occasionally send in for the exclusive items they offered if you mailed in a coupon from the magazine and a few bucks for shipping. I wasn't really a collector of Minimates but thought these guys looked cool and hilarious. Doing this weekly feature gave me an excuse to finally open them. You can find them on ebay and other online sites. They tend to go for around $30 but I have seen a couple places offering them cheaper. Good luck hunting.

That's it for this week's picks. Let us know what you thought of them, if you own any of them or plan on getting them. We'll be playing around with video from time to time as well to give you a better look at the figures.
