Happy Valentines Day! Nothing quite says 'I Love You' like zombies!

These images dated back to Halloween 2011, but I stumbled across them earlier today. Andre De Freitas is a Peruvian illustrator & photographer who sees the beauty in stillness and therefore draws as if he is taking a photo of his subject. His imagination has created some beautiful original works, but also taken the time to appreciate some of the more geeky things in life.

He's drawn a selection of characters from comic books, video games and books (both old & new) and given them the Zombie treatment! Not just the usual Marvel Zombies, although Iron Man makes an appearance to represent the "House of Ideas". There's also: Archie Andrews, Charlie Brown, Donald Duck, One Piece'sMonkey D Luffy, Popeye the Sailor Man, the Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtleRaphael, Street Fighter's Ryu, Tintin, "Waldo", the 'Butcher' from Gangs of New York, and of course it wouldn't be complete without a Zombie Batman.

And if you're tired of seeing zombies, then I thought I'd throw in some DC legends for you to admire (although this was already a fairly image-heavy post, so please forgive their tiny thumbnails).

Zombie Donald Duck is scarily menacing O_O

@The Dark Huntress: Yeah, there's something a little disturbing about seeing innocent children's characters like Donald & Charlie Brown turned into zombies ;p

I've seen the Batman one, but the rest are new to me. I would like to see him go over the rough sketches from the Infestation Sketchbook, I think he could do them a lot of justice. And no, nothing says love like zombies. As we all those poor lonely zombies are always walking around, arms out stretched desperately reaching for a hug, despite the fact their bodies would crumble to dust, and saying " I love you all ", though gurgled into groans due to their decayed vocal chords. If only Halmark was a little more classy and put the zombie, the true image of Valentines Day on their cards and candy, instead of all those meaningless hearts and cupids. Silliness, I say!
