Finale...maybe
Well, here it ends. The short but sweet Zombie Wars come to it`s conclusion with only a second issue. Or does it?
Zombie Wars issue 2 comes to us with Jina and Spud almost out of fuel and in dire need. They arrive at a military base and though at first greeted violently are let in and Spud manages to concoct a serum to destroy the zombies. Perfect timing as just then in comes the horde. Like the previous issue, it's a good read more action heavy than story heavy and honestly, that's okay.
Kevin Eastman and Co. manage to continue the story and though it jumps around a bit, it's still interesting and a very different take on zombies. I did find parts of the story a bit juvenile, but that's kind of what one should expect with this sort of book. It progresses the story up until the end and I have to say the ending made me grumble since it technically doesn't end. Read it and see what I mean. It was a fun read, still moving at a lightning pace, I think I read it in five minutes despite it having plenty of voice bubbles and boxes. Definitely a decent read and fans of Eastman will love it.
I can't really say anything new for the art that I didn't say for issue 1. It is great and I love Eastman`s style. The splash pages are especially amazing, we don't see enough of that in comics today. Art is amazing, inks are amazing and color is perfect.
Overall, I have to say it's a good read but like before I think if you aren't a fan of horror or zombies, it may not be your thing. I personally ordered the book just because of my love for Eastman but I really took to the book,. I'm also a campy horror fan so take that as you will. It's a 4 star book for fans of Eastman and or horror but otherwise, it may just be a 3.
