In 1958 Odhams Press split their licensed title Mickey Mouse Weekly into two comics. One, Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse, continued to carry the Disney related strips, while the other, Zip, took the non-Disney strips. Zip was launched by Odhams Press on 4th January 1958 with the initial strips including the cover star Skippy, Don Lawrence's Western strip Wells Fargo, Gerry Embleton's Robin Hood-esque Strongbow the Mighty (which Gerry's brother, Ron, had previously drawn for Mickey Mouse Weekly), and Harry Bishop's Tarna the Jungle Boy.
Zip lasted for 85 issues before being cancelled and merged into Swift.
