Wanting to avenge the apparent death of Wally West, Jay Garrick urges Waverider and the rest of the Justice Society into action. Waverider teleports all of the JSA (minus himself, Hawkman, and Hawkgirl) to the Vanishing Point to attack Extant. Extant deals some heavy blows to the JSA, including killing Atom, Dr. Mid-Nite and Hourman. Kent and Inza Nelson are split from the power of Dr. Fate, and the Helmet of Fate is sent off into hypertime. Other JSA members, such as Flash, Johnny Quick, Johnny Thunder, Sandman, Starman and Wildcat, are aged to their true ages.

Waverider finds himself and the Hawks teleported to a battle where the current Hawkman, Katar Hol, is fighting the Hawk Entity. The temporal fluctuations causes the Hawk Entity, Katar Hol, and the Golden Age Hawkman and Hawkgirl to merge into a new continuity Hawkman.

While the JSA fight, Superman organizes the heroes to meet in New York. Using Metron and Green Lantern to coordinate, heroes such as Infinity Inc., the Justice League, the Outsiders and the Titans arrive. Waverider reveals to the assembled heroes the fate of Wally West and Hal Jordan. Guy Gardner keys into the idea that, since the younger Hal Jordan was absorbed by the time rifts, that this may be a way to change history so that Hal Jordan never becomes Parallax.

Meanwhile, Waverider goes off to confront Extant, and to rescue the JSA, and finds that Extant is actually a version of Hank Hall that has absorbed Waverider’s powers.
