The fight against Paradoxx suddenly comes to an end when the Rygulian, who had crashlanded on the planet after Zen had shot its spaceship, stabs Paradoxx from behind. Paradoxx releases Nira from his clutches and she lands on her head, apparently breaking her neck. The Rygulian gives Zen a few seconds time to get himself and Nira to safety. Zen gets back to his spaceship and prepares to seal the wormhole.
Noran, an intergalactic warlord, arrives at the wormhole. His scribe reveals himself to be an alternate Zen.
Backup story: The woman young Zen found was just a trick from a vine to lure its victims. He is freed from his trap by a mountain lion. Together, they get to the top of the mountain, where Zen begins his meditation.
