13 is really an ill-suited number
Synopsis: A Black cat shows Zatanna some future events.
What's Good?
Paul Dini is a genius. Since this is the thirteenth issue of Zatanna, what better way to associate a superstitious number by adding a Black cat with an eye that shows the future, Brother Night breaking out of jail, black crows, and the freaking Spectre? Thankfully, there's no mention of this series being cancelled (Let's keep it that way). It seems like the upcoming months Zee will be busy dealing with these two characters somehow. And if there was any reason why that Detective Colton was hanging around in this series, the ending adds some new development to his character.
I love Adam Hughes' cover artwork. Jamal Igle's artwork is still solid.
What's Bad?
Too many story lines to follow in this issue. I'm looking forward to seeing these events take place later on, but it's just too many developments in this issue (which is probably what Paul Dini had in mind when writing this issue. After all, there are some interesting stuff that might be taking place in the future issues).
Overall: Dini makes his point across with this issue. It's been almost a year since this series have started, and it's been fun so far. I can't wait what Dini does in the second year of Zatanna.
