    Short summary describing this issue.

Symmetry last edited by SaveMeAndy on 09/17/23 09:39AM View full history

Zatanna's seen her share of strange magical artifacts – though a sword that cuts backwards through time is a new one, that's for sure! A rowdy roughneck named Backslash is using that very sword – and an enslaved fairy – to cut a bloody path through her beloved San Francisco, but how can she stop him when he can undo any attack with a mere wave of his hand? Featuring a crackling script by guest writer Matthew Sturges and art by original series artist Stephane Roux!

First let me address the Amanda Conner cover, she manages to encapsulate the spirit of San Francisco perfectly! Seagulls, Starbucks, an IPAD and the Golden Gate Bridge all in one image. Gotta love it!When I first picked up this issue from my LCS, I groaned really loudly. Why? Because I was super annoyed that Paul Dini was not writing this issue. He is playing hop scotch with a lot of his signature titles and I couldn't believe that he did it AGAIN. But, it is Zatanna and I simply adore her, so I...

Cover: It is done by Amanda Conner, one of my favorite artists. Look for yourself; it is simply gorgeous!Story:Good If you thought this was going to be a mediocre issue, due to the absence of Dini you are in for a surprise. Guest writer Mathew Struges pulls out an awesome script and an interesting villain for Zatanna’s skills. This villain, Backslash, reverses Zatanna’s words so she has to find new tricks to defeat him. The whole issue keeps you entertained, and the reviewers titles may be an in...

The Good: Stephane Roux is back on art (I think only for one issue, but still). It looks great. The cover is almost like it's own little side thing. It has nothing to do with the issue, but it's an amusing image in and of itself. Almost like a 1 panel bonus story. The villain is nothing like what I'd expect from this comic. He has all sorts of odd quirks, and yet it never seems too much, it all fits together in one smooth character. The look into Zatanna's personal life is excellent, I think Matthe...
