Zarathos
Zarathos is a comic book character that first appeared in Marvel Spotlight #5
Zarathos is a extremely powerful being and came close to taking over Mephisto's Hell. He was bound to Johnny Blaze to make The Ghost Rider.
He fought the ancient Spirits of Vengeance and corrupted some of their overseers, the Blood. The Blood that sided with Zarathos were now called The Fallen. Although he promised them increased power, he was really using their power to strengthen himself.
After gaining more power and worshippers, Zarathos then challenged Mephisto for ownership of his realm. Mephisto tricked Zarathos using Centurious, whose lack of a soul made him immune to many of Zarathos's attacks. With his followers abandoning him, Zarathos was easily defeated.
Sometimes Mephisto would force Zarathos to bond with mortals, somewhat like the Spirits of Vengeance. On one of these times, he bonded Zarathos to Johnny Blaze, making him the Ghost Rider. Zarathos was otherwise contained in the Soul Chamber. He was released for a short while by the Beyonder.
During a final battle with Johnny Blaze, Zarathos would be defeated and trapped in the Crystal of Souls with his old enemy Centurious.
However, Zarathos later appeared; having hidden inside Centurious and being freed by Lilith. After defeating Centurious, he and Liltih would go after Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, and Vengeance but would be easily defeated and thrown into the Darkside dimension. Later Zarathos and Lilith escape the dimension and planned to take over Earth by stealing the Medallion of Power with the aid of the Lilin army, creating the Siege of Darkness. During the siege he and Lilith had a romantic relationship but also during this time Zarathos had some memory loss. He and Lilith would be stopped by the Midnight Sons. Though Lilith was defeated, The Fallen returned to assist Zarathos. With the return of The Fallen, Zarathos has become stronger and has now started his quest to rule the world. Druing this time he would actually kill Ghost Rider Danny Ketch. However, the destruction of The Fallen weakens Zarathos, and in the final battle, Blade uses a powerful weapon called the Justiciar and stabs Zarathos with it. Being stabbed with the Justiciar defeated Zarathos and left him as a statue. It is later revealed that Lilith is pregnant with his child. Lilith tells him his child will avenge him in the future.
