Yuan

Origin

Yuan was a half-elf, born over 4000 years ago. He traveled with Mithos, Martel, and Kratos and they ended the Derris-Kharlan War. Yuan was in love with Mithos' sister, Martel. Martel was eventually killed after the group was betrayed by the humans. Yuan would eventually leave and oppose Mithos' crazed idea of eradicating free will and turning all beings into lifeless beings after his sister was killed, saying that is what Martel would have wanted, but Yuan knew otherwise.

Yuan was the Leader of the Desians, he was a man that was very secretive about what he was really trying to do. However, he was very knowledgable, and knew the secrets of basically every character in Tales of Symphonia, including the mysterious leader of Cruxius, Yggdrassil, Martel, and Kratos, the supposed mercenary.

Tales of Symphonia

Yuan would be initially portrayed as a villain, interfering with Lloyd's group's plans of completing the Journey of Regeneration. As the story progresses, it is revealed that the prophecy of regeneration was just a ploy for Mithos to have a souless vessel of a body for his sister. Yuan is then shown to having been a good guy, just wanting to protect his love's real ideals, and not her brother's twisted intentions. In order to accomplish this, he founded the group known as the Renegades. Yuan helps continuously throughout the series by offering clues, holding off threats for Lloyd's group, and getting them equipment. In the end he becomes the guardian of the Great Kharlan Tree in order to protect and the world's mana.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

Yuan reappears as the protector of the Great Kharlan tree.

Powers and Abilities

Yuan is a half-elf, and thanks to his Cruxis Crystal he has been granted various superhuman abilities. The crystal already increases his physical capabilities, giving him superhuman strength, speed, agility, reflexes, and durability. He single-handedly and effortlessly wields his double edged weapon known as the Swallow. The blade itself is larger than a full grown man. He can keep up in combat with the angel, Kratos, one of Yuan's old companions who himself can attack faster the eye can follow and perform multiple slashes while giving off the appearance of being just one move. Yuan can perform complicated acrobatics with ease and can move faster than the eye can follow. He can also survive attacks and falls that would normally kill a man without issue. Thanks to his crystal, he is immortal, having maintained the same appearance for over 4000 years. His crystal also grants him energy like angel wings that allow him to fly.

Due to Yuan's half-elf ethnicity, he is capable of performing magic. His specialty lies in electrical type attacks and even some of the highest levels possibilities in their universe. He commonly can be seen shooting small electrical balls from his hand that can render other crystal wearing beings unconscious, if not nearly kill them.

Due to his millenniums worth of experience, Yuan is a fierce combatant. He can hold off other skilled users like Kratos with a sword, matching him combat. And he can eventually gain the upperhand when wielding his massive swallow blade. He is also incredibly intelligent, having founded and led the Renegade group against Mithos and his vast army. He has knowledge on virtually every main character in the ToS.
