'Young Justice' and 'Green Lantern' Cancelled by Cartoon Network?

#301 Posted by aaunderoath (165 posts) - - Show Bio

So tired of Batman being shoved in my face. DC's should release a new mission statement "We're going to shove Batman in your face until you fucking hate him. Oh and FUCK all our other character"

@EnSabahNurX: absolurely agreed, I do wonder the same thing as you.

#303 Posted by ccrosby (71 posts) - - Show Bio

Good god no! I'm going to keep hoping this is not true.

Young Justice is one of the best animated shows on television at the moment (being amongst other top notch animated shows like adventure time and Transformers prime [another show thats been canceled after its next and final season]). I don't know why some of the best animated shows only last 3 or 4 seasons, especially in an instance like YJ where it seems like theres SO much story left to tell.

Even GL, which had a pretty slow build but finally is reaching its pace, just hasn't had the time to shine like I know it can and will. This is truly sad news, my saturday morning breakfast/coffee/cartoons tradition is seemingly coming to an unfortunate end :(

@Ahmed Sherif: Well Avengers is at least getting rebooted. I loved EMH, but I guess I can understand slightly where they're coming from rebooting it with the movie team. I even heard a rumor that the events of EMH might still be canon for the series, and that something will have changed to explain updated roster.

@ThePRez: The Hub's having its own problems. Rumor is the next season of Transformers Prime is going to be its last, which hurts me just as much if not more than the news of YJ.

But it's not officially officially cancelled right??

It might as well be. The exact same treatment was given to the 2011 Thundercats series.

Everything seems fine, then they don't show up on the roster for the next season's line up, CN ignores all inquiries regarding the shows status, then months later fans get word from the people who actually made the show that it's over.

So, yeah, they are pretty much gone. Cartoon Network specializes in making poor decisions these days, so I doubt these shows are coming back.

I didn't watch DL regularly, but everything I saw I liked. I didn't care for Young Justice in the least (except for casting Brent Spiner as the Joker, that was pretty awesome) but at the same time, I think the show deserved better handling than this.

#308 Posted by ravisher (694 posts) - - Show Bio

im done with CN

#309 Posted by Ben3000 (45 posts) - - Show Bio

@ccrosby: For Transformers Prime, the creators only planned to have it last three seasons. So at least they're getting to tell their complete story.

This sucks.

@TheSwordsman: Maybe but I love my Adult Swim good luck with that boycott not!

Why is it assumed this means they are canceled? It can just mean they are going to do 3-6 months of GL and YJ, then 3-6 months of TT and B-BB. I've always thought this would be the better method that way the DC Nation block can run all year long without too many repeats.

#314 Posted by MyComicStoreDotNET (46 posts) - - Show Bio

Travesty, both those shows are a great watch, Young Justice is easily one of my favorite shows on TV.

#315 Posted by soulreaper31337 (10 posts) - - Show Bio

The Young Justice i will miss.

(Green Lantern had one good episode, Loss. So i am not sad to see it go because 1 episode doesnt make up for the rest that were below par even for cartoon network standards)

I have just read on some other sites that the animation reps at Warner Brothers have confirmed the cancellations to Newsrama. It has been disappointing to see good shows get cancelled on Cartoon Network. These two now join Sym-Bionic Titan and Thundercats on the list of shows that were cancelled by CN that were very popular. Just disappointing.

#317 Posted by PassionFlower (962 posts) - - Show Bio

Didn't care for GL but loved YJ. Not surprised par for the course with CN.

Both of the canceled shows were weak in terms of story-telling and characters. Teen Titans Go is cutesy, but sorta annoying. I'm holding high hopes for Beware the Batman, though.

#319 Posted by lightsout (1831 posts) - - Show Bio

What. The. HELLLLLLLLLLLL!?!?!?!?!?

YJ was the "second coming" of the old Justice League cartoon. Maybe this wouldn't have happened if they hadn't have put them on 2 completely pointless hiatuses & had the casual fan (who I'd just imagine makes up the majority of ratings for every show) forget about them. This season better end in an awesome way >_>

Well guess that's a nail in the coffin of my theory.

Part of the reason they failed is because a lot of the hardcore fans on this site simply watched the episodes on youtube instead of watching them on cartoon network, on demand, or on iTunes.

Sad because both shows were top notch.

Is that what really led to them being cancelled?

LOL Cartoon Network goes with Powerpuff Girls for the win over GL and YJ

I loved Young Justice & Green Lantern. Dumb move on Cartoon Network's part. Just like when Nicktoons cancelled Wolverine & The X-Men!

I'm Pretty sure that was because marvel could not get any funding for a second season.

#327 Posted by DeawonCDelaney (64 posts) - - Show Bio

And Somewhere Ben 10 is reaching season 15 or something At the end of the day cartoons like Young Justice, Green Lantern, Thundercats, He-Man, Gundam Wing and etc are to "smart" for cartoon viewers these days. There is to much plot for the average cartoon watcher of this era and these shows are for the ages 16 and up and lets face it there is not of us out here for these shows to be on the air, I mean seriously Toonami comes on at like 11pm. I almost wish the ScyFy channel had a cartoon block because they would definitely know what to do with these cartoons.

What about when Marvel cancelled Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes? Was that for funding issues? Marvel always cancels it's strongest shows. LOL

I had to make an account, just to say how stupid this is!! the ratio of comic book shows that get cancelled to those that officially conclude is ridiculous. i don't want to have to assume that every one of these shows that we watch aren't actually going to end. i hope YJ gets picked back up again, not by cartoon network, but by somebody

SEZRiOUSLY??

great now all the good stuff they have left his the clone wars, and they play my favorite anime fullmetal alchemist around 3 Am but thats it :(

But instead, they put on crap like adventure time and regular show :P

#332 Posted by Darth Paul (273 posts) - - Show Bio

No wonder my DVR refuses to record any new episodes, there aren't any! LOL! Seriously though, there were at least two episodes of each that were new and on recently that I had to tell it to manually record for whatever reason, but I guess I'll just have to be somewhat vigilant about checking for few and far between new episodes now. Shame b/c these are two of my most favorite shows right now. YJ, b/c it's the only thing out there that I can get the DCU that I love, the one before the DCnU/New 52 crapfest that's in the comics now. I know that even YJ is supposed to be yet another "alternate earth" but even w/ that it's the closest thing to how things were before w/ all the characters in one cohesive universe rather than all this "some characters are only on this Earth, and others are now only on this other one crap" they brought back into the comics. However, YJ is far enough into the plot that they could just wrap it up and end it with no problem. GL, on the other hand hasn't even barely scratched the surface in the storyline, and they still have some of the other lantern corps to introduce yet. It's far too soon to get rid of it now.

#333 Posted by benben178 (163 posts) - - Show Bio

Ah come on Young Justice was getting good! I haven't watched GL, but I was planning to! CN is messing up the only good shows they had left. But Cartoon Network told us they were messing up when they get rid of toonami in 2008 Sure they brought it back but it's not for the youth, I'm not mad, but all this is nerve wreaking man.

#334 Posted by Nightflash (713 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm so furiated about this. Why would they cancel a quality DC cartoon that was getting fine reviews? You probably remember that big 6 month break they had and I think I know why. The big guys who own everything came to the makers of YJ and told them that they're canceling the show. Te guys behind YJ probably had change the episodes so the series could end in time.

#335 Posted by pokemonmon (47 posts) - - Show Bio

@Namor1987 its funny you should say that because at one point for a few years sci-fi channel did have a block for anime. for whatever reason thoughit no longer exists

#337 Posted by Pfcoolio15 (308 posts) - - Show Bio

For those people that say it's being cancelled because it's too smart for the average cartoon viewer. That's because the average cartoon viewer is my 6 year old little sister.

#338 Posted by UrbanChill (231 posts) - - Show Bio

i hope all the episodes leak early so i wont have to continue watching their crappy station for the remaining episode

#339 Posted by beveri8469 (4 posts) - - Show Bio

im so ticked bout this. as far as im concerned, CN died along time ago.

im upset with CN canceling GL & YJ bout as much as i was when on 8/31/12 when NCSoft announced the closing of COH.

YJ & GL i really looked forward to every sat along with PR on Nick. CN needs to be thrown out the nearest airlock. lol

#340 Posted by Vaeternus (9410 posts) - - Show Bio

Dumb....YJ is a good show, The Hub should get it....

CN, Nicko etc are too picky and often cancel the wrong shows these days...

#341 Posted by namtabmi (99 posts) - - Show Bio

this is the problem with cartoons. they typically only last 2 seasons if they're lucky.

#342 Posted by colonyofcells (2038 posts) - - Show Bio

Last Teen Titans cartoon lasted a while so I hope the new Teen Titans Go will last longer.

Wow. Why dose this not suprise me? Cartoon network has no secenc of timing. Do you remenber the teen titans? Cartoon network had them cut off there series at the worst time. There final episode was supose to set up the next season, but they were canned. And other then this, what dose cn have? (green lantern was good too)
