Titans 2.0
I'll second
high marks for Young Justice 20. It is a great jumping on point for new readers. If you are watching and enjoying the Young Justice series on Cartoon Network and, like me, either can't get enough or want more, the Young Justice comic is for you.I like the cover homage to the Giffen-DeMatteis-Maguire era Justice League.
I almost expect Superboy to be saying "What're you lookin' at?
Our story begins on Nightwing's birthday, both in the present and in flashbacks. He's quite the ladies man. Bette, Rocket, Zatanna. A nice light opening.
After Rocket and Zatanna wish Nightwing a happy birthday, and head of to the Justice League satellite for a briefing, Young Justice breaks up into alpha and beta teams. Alpha team, Batgirl, Beast Boy, Bumble Bee, Lagoon Boy, Miss Martian and Superboy head off to cover the speech by Qurac dignitary Noor Harjavti.
There is a very cool cameo by Jimmy Olsen and Clark Kent, both in the present and in flashbacks.
Beta team, Dick and Cassie (Wonder Girl) Sandsmark head to El Paso to recruit the new Blue Beetle.
What I enjoy about Young Justice is that this series is the first in DC Animation to be a window into the entire DC Universe. Young Justice isn't just about the team. It includes their mentors, the Justice League of America. It's nice to see the mentors and sidekicks working together as well as the ongoing conflict between them, like between Conner and Clark. Teen Titans, Go! wasn't able to do this; and The Batman Adventures, Superman Adventures, and Justice League Adventures didn't make any attempts, except for quick cameo appearances.
Young Justice 20 is a great place to jump onboard for the new direction the book is headed.
