Will Shia LaBeouf Become Y: The Last Man?
Shia LaBeouf has expressed interest in the role in the past and Director D.J. Caruso (who also directed Shia in "Eagle Eye" and "Disturbia") is waiting for their schedules to match up. Caruso is working on the script at the moment. LaBeouf has recently suffered a slight injury and has just finished the sequel to Transformers. Perhaps things will line up soon.
Caruso has also stated that he sees the story of Y as being spread out over three films (the series was sixty issues).
i hate shia labeouf...it's nothing against his acting skills he's a good actor....but the little s.o.b. got to make out with megan fox and that's why i hate him
i do like y: the last man though and it being 3 films sounds like a good idea maybe they'll be smart and film them back to back like lord of the rings
Im stoked for this movie to be made. I think it should be done in 2 or 3 parts though. Shia would be great. I also like Adam Brody for the part. But maybe it would be just better to get a new no-name actor. And please no male model style actors.
I really hope not, but it sounds likely. I cannot stand him as an actor or a person. He helped ruin Constantine, and he was horrible in Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Ruined Movie Franchise. Y:TLM is way too good for him, and I can't see any way he'd do justice to the part.
"Shia is becoming one of the est actors of this generation. I think it would be great"This is sad and funny at the same time.
There've been rumors about Alicia Keys playing Agent 355. Caruso said they haven't gone to casting yet. She was good in "Smokin' Aces" (even though that movie was a little whacky).
"What are you guys on? Shia Laboef is undoubtedly one of the worst actors of this generation. He completely ruins everything he's in. Blargh!"I beg to differ. Eagle Eye, Transformers even Holes were all really good movies. Even his smaller parts in I Robot and Constantine were good.
I see Shia Lebeef and all I think is wtf was Rihanna thinking? Not a fan of the goofball. Won't keep me from seeing a Y the Last Man movie but will keep me from seeing just about everything else he's in. Other movies where his role is to run away and act surprised/scared 90% of the time haven't been particularly impressive. He's no Harrison Ford.

"Since when did Leabeouf become Hollywood's actor for everything?"Shia Lebeouf is a Beast... ever since that independent film he did " Battle Of Shaker Heights "... I thought he was awesome... and when he was on Even Stevens...
lol
Maybe if the movie was called Y: The Last Boy.
What happened to Hollywood. Used to have men in men's roles.

What happened to Hollywood. Used to have men in men's roles."
lol jk
Nothing against Shia Lebeouf, I don't mind most of his work and I think he's a fairly moderate actor, but I do not see him portraying Yorick Brown in any way. Y:TLM is a great series and deserves to be made into an equally great movie(s). If anything a no name would potentially be a better casting decision than some big name Hollywood star who's only real purpose for being in the movie is to make sure it sells tickets. Often that's what ruins a lot of comic based movies. IMO anyways.
Studios need the ensure they'll make a profit. It's always a gamble to invest in the production of a big budget movie. Those of us that have read or are reading Y know that it's a kick ass piece of literature. Try asking your crazy non-comic book reading friends what they'd think. I felt bad about the way I summed up the story. It sounds cheesey. The last dude on Earth. This property isn't Batman or Spider-Man. It doesn't have a built in fan base. The Dark Knight killed at the box office. The majority of the people that saw it probably never picked up a Batman comic in their life. Even though this could and should be a great movie, getting an unknown actor won't guarantee a return on their money. It's a matter of finding the line between what's good for the property and what's good for the movie. Hollywood isn't making movies for us comic readers. They're making them for the movie goers that out number us.
I'm not against the idea of Shia as Yorick. I think he could pull it off. I've heard long ago that he's been interested. I'm assuming he's very familiar with the character and comic since he first let it be known he wanted to do it way before the movie deal was final. Nothing's set in stone yet so we'll see.
I like Shia Lebeouf and would love to see this movie but I think they should get a better and older of it.
