How do we pronounce Xorn's name?

#1 Posted by DEADPOOL (2703 posts) - - Show Bio

"Zorn" or "Chorn"?

#2 Posted by Ms. Invisible (3292 posts) - - Show Bio

I guess "Zorn". Isn't that how most nouns starting with "X" are pronounced in the English language?

I say "Zorn."

Actually I've never said it. I've never spoken the name "Xorn" aloud.

Its a dumb name no matter how you pronounce it.

Weird name, pretty cool character.

#7 Posted by G-Man (30677 posts) - - Show Bio

When in doubt, just go with "Clyde."

Kalesniko says:

Knowing Grant Morrison's aptitude for storytelling i'm sure he chose Xorn for a reason. Since Xorn is Chinese his name is probably Mandarin or Cantonese for something beyond our comprehension:)

If it's Chinese, the X is probably pronounced as a 'sh' sound. That'd make it 'shorn'. Still an odd name. Wonder what it means.

I know for a fact that it's pronounced "Zorn". Like corn but with a Z instead of a C.

#13 Posted by NiteFly (1459 posts) - - Show Bio

I always use Z too, but if Tawa is right Shorn would be cool too.

#14 Posted by DEADPOOL (2703 posts) - - Show Bio

If it's pronounced "Shorn," then "Shen Shorn" would sound kinda like a tongue twister.

She sells Shen shells down by the Shen Shorn, lol.

I always figured 'Zorn' but I thought it was 'Zavier' not 'Exavier'. Could be pronounced 'Tsorn'.

#16 Posted by G-Man (30677 posts) - - Show Bio

Why don't we just call him "Susan"?

I'm assuming it's Zorn.
