Aric hates the circumstances, but has to do it for the good of his people!

    The Good

The armored hero, Aric, is a pretty cool character. His story so far is that he’s had to make sacrifices for the good of his people. One of those sacrifices was making an unwilling alliance with the U.S. Government as it’s protector. However, he knows that he’s just a bug in a jar, or an errand boy, that’s being carefully watched by the government to make sure he and his people don’t step out of line.

In this issue, Aric ventures off into space and comes into contact with an alien that desperately wants to take his armored suit because he isn’t fully “whole.” This leads to a brief fight that eventually will be extended into the next issue, but overall you really get to see Aric’s character in this issue.

I like how writer Robert Venditti really plays on Aric’s hate for the circumstances he’s in and also how he knows that the U.S. Government doesn’t like him. This is expressed through conversations he has with liaison and how he expresses it sometimes physically in an amusing manner. Doing all these things adds to Aric’s story and makes us (the readers) feel like he is a hero with emotions that he expresses verbally and physically just like us — ultimately allowing a great reading experience.

The art team did a tremendously good job with the artwork. I like the entire design and layout of the art and it really showcases the frightening beauty of space, in comparison with Earth.

    The Bad

No complaints accept for my lack of understanding of all that is transpiring in this series. Thankfully, the overview was pretty detailed and gave a decent/basic understanding of what is/has happened.

    The Verdict

If you are into armored space heroes, then this is the series for you. I really enjoyed what I read from this issue and it looks like Aric is a really cool and complex superhero. 5 out of 5!!! CHECK THIS SERIES OUT!
