Who's your favorite X-Man and why? What was the first story you remember reading about them?

For me, it is hands down Rogue who is my favorite. I like her for a variety of reasons, but mostly because she's a tough gal who doesn't take things lying down. If you're looking for a scrap, then Rogue will be more than happy to oblige.

My first story with Rogue was Secret Wars #3. She wasn't featured much in it, but I felt an immediate connection to her because she knew that she was hated not only for being a mutant but also being a former member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and she wasn't going to let that stop her. She was and always will be a tough girl to put down. She rocks!

I think from the regular X-Men line-up I've gotta go with Beast. Mostly becaues I tend to like the emotions that come from the characters not comfortable in their own skin. Sure, Rogue's got her own issues, but at least she can walk around town without getting some looks. Beast on the other had, despite his intellegence has never been able to come to grips with his physical form. Sure it's not exactly a new theme or anything, but I'm amazed that the character brings up thoughts of agility, grace and wit despite the fact that he looks like a villan.

I really enjoyed the way they handled Professor X in the Ultimate line though as well. Obviously a lot of people love Wolverine, but at this point I think I've learned all I really need to know about the character. There hasn't been much going on with him to change his perception. The only way they ever are able to do that is to give us a tiny piece of his past.

By the way, saw you're a fellow Exiles fan, awesome!

Yeah, I love Exiles and can only hope and pray that Claremont doesn't muck the book up.

Yeah it's weird with him. I'm not necessarily sure he's improved with age. A lot of his stuff I like, but I was only ho-hum about his return to X-Men.

The biggest concern is that I don't want Exiles to become strictly an X-Men related book. I liked that they went to universes and dealt with generic MU themes. But, Claremont has a habit of bringing his favorite toys with him whenever he goes to a new book, like how he's bringing Psylocke to the Exiles. I'm not that bothered with Psylocke, but I don't want to see story after story where all the Exiles do is fight one alternate version of Apocalypse or Nimrod or Sinister or, heaven forbid, The Technnet.

Favorite X-Man? Geez, that's like asking if I like one of my kids more than the other...actually I only have one.... I'd have to give this some thoughts. I'm tempted to say Gambit but he needs a boost. As I mentioned in another thread, I hope he comes back better than ever (what's up with them killing off Ulitmate Gambit?!?)

As for Exiles...I'm a little concerned. I love Claremont but sometimes he goes off on different tangents. And I do wonder if he's been keeping up with the series and has a good feel for the characters. And Psylocke on the team? I'm really really worried about that. I love Psylocke. Being hot and all doesn't hurt. I'm so glad she was brought back from the dead but I do wonder what Claremont has in mind for her. Guess we'll see...

Maybe we can throw in Kitty Pryde too into the favorite category. Who doesn't like her? Plus she's got ninja abilities that most people forget.

Nightcrawler. I like him because he is so compassionate towards people who hate him because of his appearance. I loved the story where Nightcrawler found out Mystique was his mother.

I liked Maggott's powers, just not how he was written. My favorite X-Man would have to be Bishop, just always liked that character.

Yeah, but either Eenie or Meenie survived, so it's possible that he can be reborn, right?

I'm probably in the minority, but aside from his name, I really liked Maggott. Not as much as I like Rogue now, but I liked him and thought he had potential. I miss him and Dr. Reyes, who needs a code name. Just like Kitty needs to go back to being called Shadowcat, darn it.

This might be cliché, but I'm gonna have to go with Wolverine. He's just too much of a badass to deny. Also, I really like Nightcrawler. I like acrobatic characters like him.

i've asked myself this question many a time, and I always come down to a three way tie: Nightcrawler, Gambit, and Iceman. Gambit has been my numero uno favorite since I was just a little 6 year old watching the show. I had Gambit pajamas for Christ's sake! Nightcrawler snuck into the highest parts of my list later on, into high school. His power I'm not that crazy about, but his personality and awesomeness with a sword make up for them. And good old Bobby, he's just cool (no pun intended, i swear) So i guess my favorite would have to be a blue, pointy eared, 3 fingered cajun that threw exploding hunks of ice at people.

Personally, I have always liked Colossus the most. He's a really good guy who doesn't like to hurt people, but when the shit hits the fan, he can throw a mean beating. I also like that he usually isn't portrayed as just another bruiser but as more of a tough and cunning fighter. Plus, he looks freaking cool. Bishop would have to be my second favorite though. I love his whole attitude.

I have to say Colossus. I always loved the big man with a big heart approach.

But the fact that he's not just about that, but has shown to be prone to outbursts of rage, his love for the arts, and that he's not dumb, just gentle is what really makes him my favorite. I can relate to him.

Plus, he boinks Kitty Pryde, you gotta give him points fot that.

Most people who don't look at him as a character and just see a guy with one simple (though powerful) ability don't usually like him. I like him, but not nearly as much as Iceman.
