In a world without X-Men, humans attacked the mutant stronghold of Fortress X on a daily basis. Basilisk, Katherine Pryde, Legacy, Magneto & others struggled to uncover the lies surrounding their world; that the residents of Utopia were warped by a new personality created inside Legion's mind.
Marvel has announced that in 2011 there will be a new storyline called Age of X, which will signal the end of mutantkind as we know it. Apparently, this is supposed to be similar in size and scope to age of apocalypse. So what do you guys think it will be about? Could this be the makings of the future that Bishop sought to avoid with Hope's demise?
What the heck is wrong with marvel man...U talk about bringing up mutantkind and then destroying it (for good/ temporarily). Come on now. Can we get a few storylines that are talking about what every character is truly going through? Or how about like More background and growth for the five lights or better yet characters like loa, trance, anole, rockslide, surge, u kno? Can we at least get a good 1 or 2 years before we go back to "The End of Mutantkind" all over again. Gosh...the frustration we all get now. Two words marvel...CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.

I do partially agree, though. It still feels like second coming just came to end.

It could easily mean that the way mutants are viewed will be completely different. with hope activating every mutant, this could mean that every mutant will have to have a conection to the x-men. The mutant race will forever be differnet because of Hope. This doesn't have to mean that they are gonna kill them off.

True. I just feel that's all they've been doing because they have all these characters in the background but aren't using them so they want to / have to kill some off.

So that could be even more evidence. This will change everything and currently the x-men are a near military group that has to fight daily for their lives on a huge scale. This could mean a return to normal.
I would like mutants to really be that, not a new species or the next evolution of humans. If it really was random. If one in every thousand births were a mutant regardless of parentage. Humans having mutant children, mutants having human children just random.
You guys have very interesting views. I do agree that the x-men are basically mutant soldiers now instead of teachers and caring about everyone else and just wanting to help. Scott is really changing and I think it's because jean's not there and we all know that jean was the woman that scott was ever truly happy with or just happy in general. Emma has gotten to him but no diss on the couple though. Hopefully the X-gene will come back as it used to with puberty and all but we all know that wont happen. It's crazy how things can change like that. I can't say i like hope but I can't say I hate her. I have mixed feelings about her and it's probably because of the way she's written and used. Just let us get jean back so Emma can go sleep with Namor cuz we all know they have a thing for each other. And tell Wanda to say "Bring back the mutants." And everything will be just peachy lol.
Any announce about X-Men never excites me, I can only think of how they would ruin my favorite characters this time. But nonetheless, there's always the chance I can be surprised like I was with Second Coming.
I'm sick of the X Men constantly getting a raw deal from Marvel time and time again ffs.
They where the biggest Marvel franchise at one point, keeping everyone in jobs while Marvel nearly bankrupted it's self but oh noooooooo Marvel decides to crash the whole thing just because they can. Just when they where finally getting somewhere again, more trash is being made to knock them back down into the pits of ridicule.
All in all no i'm not buying this peice of lame trash that will be retconned six months later.
I'm so tired of the whole 'fighting for the survival of their species'. There are SO many more stories they could tell... But if this is the only thing they can think of, then just let the X-Gene die... it's better to kill 'em off instead of re-hashing this rubbish.

I think it's ironic that Marvel is so hooked on events for the X-teams since Messiah Complex, since I understood that they had a very effective few years just prior to that that were relatively event-free. We're just about back to 90s concentration of crossovers at this point.
I'm not going to jump to any conclusions about what could happen with this "Age of X". It could potentially be a very entertaining and exciting story arc.
Thinking along the line of something happening and the X-Men have to take over as the Avengers in an alt universe. Just wonder how they are going to perform it.

I don't think I get it, but I'm excited if it will have an Age of Apocalypse feel, although AoA was never my favorite, it was pretty good... I was really looking forward to AoA in Wolverine and the X-Men until they canned it SIGH
I hope Chris Bachalo gets involve with more than just the stroryline. I do not care who the X-men are fighting for supremacy as long as Chris Bachalo is the penciler. His previous sting with the X-men was awesome. I enjoyed the art of Blinded by the Light, First Foursaken and Supernovas.
I know many people do not like his art but for me, his art is the best. My favorite characters were Lady Mastermind, Iceman, Rogue and Rachel Summers.

That's why middle guy reminds me of a pose from New X-Men when Bobby had glasses EDIT: Nate Grey? except he had his hand raised to his face and it was freezing and radiating cold... Dr. Nemesis would be interesting addition to main cast though... I like X-Club though have yet to read the X-Club comics though only synopses.
will be involved, I was also hoping for a major event free couple of arcs over the next while, as long as they can keep them on the same level as Second Coming. One major event that still urks me was the whole Dark Avengers/X-Men and Utopia run. Sooo many good battles were off panel.

I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be like Age of Apocalypse, as far as I know. All that's for certain is that it will be similar in size and scope to Age of Apocalypse. However, they have made no indication that it will resemble that storyline in content
hmmmm, Gambit's holding a rifle? and, for a guy with no arms, Hellion sure has pumped up those pecs ;) The lightning at the top should be a dead giveaway for Storm....although it could be Surge or Polaris. Cannonball's right below her with a gun-toter below him, Fantomex or Deadpool maybe. The winged figure definitely looks feminine...maybe Dragoness or Gargouille (both still powered last I checked). Both figures smack-dab in the middle have me a bit perplexed. The left looks pretty androgynous, Domino possibly? I'll say the right is Northstar even though there really aren't any distinguishing characteristics. The crouching female in the front could be Hope, Rogue, Kitty......not sure.
So, is this supposed to be an alternate reality again? If they're setting up the way they did AoA, this must could be a 2nd lineup separate from the other, all yellow teaser.
Well, if you read the X-position with Carey, he said more focused on Legacy and NM. So expect a couple young mutants,Gambit, Rogue, Magneto and members of the NM to be part of the arc with the big ones playing a role(Xavier, Storm, Logan, Emma, Cyke) appearing cause those define the X-Men for several people.
@xxCellPhoneGirlxx: I seriously hope that the Scarlet Witch does not show up in any form in the Age of X storyline- (unless of course Age of X is set in an alternate reality). Because if she shows up it will completely invalidate the 9 part Avengers: Children's Crusade which is coming out every other month.
What other winged female mutants are there? Pixie, but hers aren't even close to that shape, although they like to make additions to the silhouettes to throw us off. Maybe Mystique shapeshifts some wings?
