The Fifth Celestial Host arrives on Earth and seeks to obliterate it. It appears that the Avengers were meant to weaken, if not destroy, the Phoenix, thereby severing its connection to mutantkind and preventing the revival of the mutant race. The actions of Cyclops which eventually led to the return of the mutant x-factor, ran contrary to the plans of the Celestials. The renewed proliferation of the mutant race affected the balance of life and evolution in the universe. To correct the error, Earth had to be destroyed.
Cyclops is alerted of the arrival of the Host. He quickly assembles a team composed of the most powerful mutants. He places Magik in command. Their task is to intercept the Host and destroy it.
1. Magik (leading the team and frequently appearing in her Darkchilde form)
2. Legion (mentally stable and in control of some of the more powerful personalities in his mind)
3. Nate Grey (with his shaman powers restored but subjected to some sort of psionic timer configured into his genetic brand)
4. Douglock (most complete version of the Warlock/Doug Ramsay gestalt)
5. Hope Summers (gun-toting and having the ability to potentially mimic the awesome powers of her team)
6. Colossus (fully empowered by Cyttorak as his one and only avatar)

Oh, Havok. Y'know, during his Starjammer phase I thought he was alright.
Plot
Humans have had enough of being told they are primitive by mutant kind. They have constantly been bombarded by mutants. No more. Many countries bond together to eradicate the mutant population. Firstly they build a weapon that freezes the mutant gene from working. Once it takes effect, they finish the job by killing them.
They begin these experiments in Africa where they believe no one will know. The test work. For the next step, they need to have protection against telepathic attacks - creating head armour from the same material as Magneto's helmet.
Mass production of these weapons begins imminently and spread throughout the world. Mutant kind will no longer sit at the top of the food chain. This world wide simultaneous attack begins. Within a day, millions of mutant kind of died out. Within a week, the mutant kind has went into their 100s and taken refuge anywhere they deem safe.
Mutant kind has no choice but to band together, put aside their differences and unite.
Fortunately for mutant kind, there is a saviour. Since many have been de-powered but survived; a teenager by the name of Joshua Foley is the saviour they need. Also known as Elixir, Joshua has dove into his powers and managed to figure out how to recreate the x-gene. He is now the most safely guarded man on the planet.
If a mutant is de-powered, but survives, a rescue team will pick them up. Checked for any contamination and brought to Elixir for re-powering. Slowly, they begin to take a step forward.

Phoenix entity wants revenge against Scarlet Witch... so it hatches a Phoenix egg within Hope.. unknown to her but under Phoenix control sneaks around to get close to Scarlet witch.. mimics her powers and says scarlet witch depowered... scarlet feels her powers fading.. as she turns around Hope releases the Phoenix fire brid signature... and laughs points at her and said I Am Phoenix. ... then mixingg scarlet witches abilities and the Phoenix she says more mutants .. the mutants that was depowered in M day recieve their abilities back as well as other latent mutants.. what she did was so heavy it drained hope.. leaving her unconscious. . Scarlet witch being powerless and angry drags hopes body to the government saying we have a problem.. and Hopes genitics holds the key to that power... with people recieving their abilities or people who once were powerless began to abuse their powers causing humans to fear the mutants .. they hired avengers and fantastic four.. anybody to track down mutants... the humans hired old genosha military and trained new one to hunt the mutants.. and using Hopes mimic abilities to create new sentinels like days of future.. mutants are captured experimented on some presented a choice .. to either serve the humans and hunt others Mutants.. there is a cash rewards for turning mutants in..the sentinels are the new police.. placed around the world... the xmen make themselves invisible. . Becuz of Storm using her magic.. some xmen died.. some turned and worked for the government

And whatever mutants are created
Many of the world's mutants have been destroyed in the battle against the Red Onslaught. Following his destruction, Magneto assumes leadership of those who survived and relocates them to the Savage Land to a village constructed out f destroyed Sentinels a la Earth X. In order to prevent further casualties among their population, they remain isolated from the rest of the world. But new mutants are being born every day and mutant kind still has many enemies. Not all mutants believe isolation is the best approach. In order to safeguard the new mutants in a world full of those who would see them dead, the New X-Men come together:
1. Cyclops
2. Emma Frost
3. Nate Grey
4. Northstar
5. Polaris
6. Gambit
7. Iceman
8. Jubilee
9. Cecilia Reyes
10. Ms. Sinister (captured and forced to work for the Xmen)
X-Force would also be in operation. Their mission is the same as the current team: eliminate threats to the mutsnt nation before they begin.
1. Cable
2. Psylocke
3. Domino
4. Dr. Nemesis
5. Marrow
6. Hope Summers
7. Warpath
8. Deadpool
Their primary antagonist are a cabal of mutant haters or mutants only interested in profiting themselves: a new Inner Circle.
Black King/Sebastian Shaw
Red King/ John Sublime
Black Queen/ Cassandra Nova
Red Queen/ Madelyne Pryor
Black Bishop/ Ms. Sinister (until her capture)
Red Bishop/ Astra
Black Rook/ Christian Frost (Emma's deranged psionic energy feeding brother)
Red Rook/ Bastion 2.0
I probably already responded to this since it seems these are created every few days, but I'll play:

This team would basically be formed around the premise that following any other person's dream is a waste of time, so it's composed of people with different viewpoints. They get together to keep themselves from getting pulled into other teams, and for support that is actually invested in solving their problems, whereas they are used to being treated as just resources to be tapped when convenient. You join this team to actually resolve something in your life that you can't handle on your own, but the Old Guard never gets around to caring about.
New X-Men - The Illuminati of mutants, these mutants are the old school X-Men who push the envelope for mutantkind's benefit. While some have been exiled from the group and others no longer find a role for themselves in the unit, these six have come together to steer mutants in the right direction. But when the Red Skull takes over one of its members, the group may count on wildcard Mystique to save them.
Uncanny X-Men - Rogue is returning the X-Men to their roots. With many longtime members gone or deceased, she wants to revive Xavier's ideals, no matter the heft of his sins. One of those ideals is redemption, and Daken will be the biggest test of her life.
Tomorrow's X-Men - With the mutant schools dissolved, the Avengers have their sights set on the young mutant graduates so they send Manifold to recruit them to Team A. However, he soon gets caught up in their adventures and becomes their reluctant chaperone. But the fun times are cut short when Eden realizes they plan on busting out one of their own from the Raft, bringing him face to face with his former teammates, the Avengers.
Uncanny X-Factor - While Kitty Pryde does not stand for assimilation, she does want mutants to be known for more than just being mutants so along with her dear friend Nightcrawler and mutant celebrities the Dazzler and Jean-Paul Beaubier (Northstar), she decides to buy a house in the middle of nowhere as a shining example of mutants being normal people and productive citizens. But her plan quickly goes awry when she notices all of the other residents are children...with a weird glow in their eyes and blood on their hands.
All-New X-Force - As the underground arms race against mutants picks up steam, Psylocke hand picks a new team of X-Forcers to take care of the job. As the team goes undercover to the grimiest parts of Madripoor, it becomes apparent the personal stakes that are at risk for each individual member and Selene only plans to lock them even more firmly in her game.
@selina_sublime: Nice!! Love Rogue's team and the redemption theme. Bishop, Weapon Omega and Blink would be perfect for this as well.
The Illuminati for mutants is an awesome touch as well. Cable being from the future or Rachel would be great here too
Ha. I had the same thought of a team called eXpendables/X-pendables having mostly heroic mutants whose altruism went wrong at some point, who either seek redemption or a self-destructing death-wish composed of the likes of Bishop, Scarlet Witch, Weapon Omega and similar "complex" people.
Professor Xavier: The man who started it all has actually not had very much exploration of his character. People have been trying to make him cool or edgy by giving him this manipulative dark side for years, but there has to be more to Charles than that, and I for one would love to see him explored more in-depth.
Storm: My first, last, and only choice for team leader, and my favorite fictional character of all time. Unlike Cyclops, who was very black and white in regards to whether he wanted to go along with whatever Xavier said or outright rebel and cuss him out (or, you know, murder him under the influence of the Phoenix), Storm took a more measured approach in how she chose to honor Xavier's dream, questioning it and compromising when necessary without ever outright abandoning it.
Magneto: Claremont had the right idea in the 80s, having Magneto progress from being a cackling Silver Age lunatic to a noble, flawed, but ultimately principled freedom fighter. I hate stories like Fatal Attractions and Planet X that go out of their way to undo that -- Magneto's much more compelling in stories like "Not A Hero" or the original "I, Magneto!" side story in X-Men Classic, where he only sees himself as superior because of the moral bankruptcy of those around him.
Beast: The team's brains, wit, and brawn. I dislike what's happened with modern-day Hank since roughly 2012 or so, but the classic Beast from the Animated Series and the 1990s-era comics? Is one of my favorite superheroes ever.
Cyclops: Someone get this guy off the pressure cooker before he snaps. While Scott has made many decisions I do not agree with, I respect his skill as a strategist and tactician enough to keep him on the team...just not as leader. His morality is far too myopic for that. Let him be the one to come up with the winning game plan under someone else's leadership, so he can focus more on growing as a person and learning to contribute, rather than take the reins all the time.
Banshee: Less of a teammate here and more of a coach. Banshee works best as a trainer and teacher -- even to characters who've been X-Men longer than him. I liked him a lot as the head of Generation X, and I feel he would work very well as a sort of part-timer, who goes with the team on missions sometimes, but is mainly content to keep them fighting fit and sharp-minded through Danger Room exercises, or access Interpol and X-Corps contacts worldwide to help coordinate the team as needed.
Jean Grey: People might assume that since I want Jean back, and I want her on the team, that I automatically want her with Cyclops. I do not. Let her be single for a while and explore what it means to be Jean Grey, away from the Phoenix and the Scott/Logan love triangle that makes me nauseous even to think about. >.< Nonetheless, she has the power, experience, and compassion to be one of my favorite X-Men of all time.
Toad: Probably my weirdest choice, and the one that most people are going to disagree with. Why Toad? Simply put, Toad has a lot of potential for growth as a character, if writers started taking him seriously and writing him as more than a joke or a scheming backstabber.
Colossus: The pure-hearted powerhouse. I've loved him since I met him and that'll likely never change ^_^ Plus, I like the way his character interacts with most of the others on the team, and there's a lot of potential in him interacting with someone like Toad or Scarlet Witch, whom he's only rarely even spoken to.
Moira MacTaggert: Even though she's strictly staff and not a member of the team, per se, I see a lot of potential in her that was never realized before her tragic death. The X-Men don't have a lot of baseline human allies, and the ones they do have are usually chopped in the crossfire or cut off from them somehow. And Moira has historically proven to be brilliant, brave, tough, snarky, and caring, all in turns. Also, she and Banshee are one of my favorite old-school couples and I miss them together. ^_^
Scarlet Witch: I don't care what anyone says, she's Magneto's daughter and always will be. There's been an awful lot of hate for her over the years since House of M, and I think it's unfair. The best way, I feel, for her to get past that is to join the X-Men for a while and put her weird, cool, hard-to-define powers to good use working with them. And not that 'Unity Team' crap either, that $#!+ annoys me no end.
Sunfire: Despite having been around since the Giant-Size days, we really haven't seen much of Shiro at all over the years. I would really like to see inside him and learn what makes him tick. It's also fun to have a fire guy on any team, especially if we explore the potential of his powers beyond blowing stuff up. It worked for Firestar, why not Sunfire?
Magik: OK, I admit it: I love this girl. Always have, always will. Her good-versus-evil inner struggle, her wit and ruthlessness...she serves perfectly in a Wolverine-style "anti-authoritarian" role, and she has a lot of neat and interesting powers to boot -- including her stepping-discs, which are a great way to both get around AND land the team in new and exciting kinds of trouble. I'd love to see how her powers interact with Wanda's and what kinds of trouble they could cause.
Honorable Mentions:
Just because a character isn't on this list doesn't mean I don't love them, or want them to get in a book somewhere. Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Gambit, Rogue, Cable, Kitty Pryde, Dazzler, Jubilee, Cecilia Reyes, Iceman, Mystique, Moonstar...and yes, even Wolverine...all are amazing characters with nifty things to offer and would all be fantastic on a team. Hell, that list I just rattled off could be the "Blue" counterpart to the Joint Venture team's "Gold" team. (Just don't put Logan in charge, I hate him when he leads a team) But if I listed EVERY character on my Dream-Team, it'd be less a team and more of an army.
So don't fret. My dream roster is only ONE of the many teams I have rattling around in my headcanon. :)
I guess that gives me the right to comment. My team:
•Phoenix/ Jean Grey (leader and psychic): Jean was being built up to the position of leader and would’ve been so in my opinion eventually if she were still alive. I add Phoenix because I do think she could work as Phoenix without the need to kill her everytime.
•Rogue: With her super-strength and flight, she was always a useful character in my opinion. Aerodynamic, Strong, and can absorb others powers.
•Nightcrawler: Quick, skilled, and blue! What more could you want. :P
•Polaris: Nearly everything these days are made of metal. Way more reliable than Magneto, whom almost always has a private agenda.
•Iceman: Very powerful mutant with a more useful powerset than I used to think long ago. His ice creations and control over the temperatures makes him useful in crisis situations.
•Young Beast: What an O5 member? Blasphemy! Well, he may not be as smart as the other top tier geniuses including his older self, but he has been dabbling the magical arts as of late, making him look like in my opinion as a future Doctor Doom, who is powerful and feared in his own regard.
•Dazzler: I’ve been interested in her recently. Her powerset is quite a beautiful one and the way it works is quite interesting.
•Kitty Pryde: Very useful power. An escape plan or emergency saves can come from this girl, who is a genius herself.
