The X-Men are a superhero team of mutants founded by Professor Charles Xavier. They are dedicated to helping fellow mutants and sworn to protect a world that fears and hates them.
If you do a google search there is some great sites about collecting comics. You can start right at the beginning uncanny #1 or you can find a start on point e.g marvel now after AvX or you can collect essential/famous runs astonishing xmen, morrisons new xmen or Claremont huge uncanny run. I suggest catching up on post avengers vs xmen so all marvel now stuff, then go back and get runs to look at epic stories and to learn the x history
