So I just saw X-Men First Class and at the end of the movie I realized that there is no way that this movie is in the same universe as the first 3 X-Men movies. One reason is that Magneto and Xavier met Jean Grey together as friends, when Jean Grey was a child. This was shown in a flashback, in X-Men 3. But, in X-Men First Class, Xavier and Magneto part ways before this event. Do you guys agree? Or disagree? Post some more reasons
X-Men
Team » X-Men appears in 13410 issues.
The X-Men are a superhero team of mutants founded by Professor Charles Xavier. They are dedicated to helping fellow mutants and sworn to protect a world that fears and hates them.
X-Men Movies (Spoiler Alert)
That's one reason. Another reason is that X2 specifically say that Magneto helped Charles create Cerebro, while in First Class it was Beast.
I think they're rebooting the series while making slight references to the first trilogy, but they are not trying to stay in continuity.
@JediXMan: I've been calling it a soft reboot which basically means they're keeping what they want but still making it it's own worldPretty much, yeah.
Personally, if I were the one in charge, I wouldn't have Magneto leave until the sequel. What this movie lacked was the relationship between Charles and Magneto. It's very important and built upon. They were good friends for years.
@tomzoid13: I have the same feeling towards Kevin Bacon, not that he did a bad job but there's just something about that dude that makes me want to punch him. Though I have felt this way ever since the first time I saw footloose so technically this has nothing to do with the movieHe wasn't bad, but I didn't see him as Shaw. That and...
HE LACKED A PONY TAIL!
That kinda irritated me.
@JediXMan: Don't get me wrong I think Kevin Bacon is a good actor its just for some reason I just don't like him I suppose that works to his advantage when he's playing a villainTrue. I neither like nor dislike him. He wasn't a bad villain, but again, I don't see him as Sebastian Shaw.
Just a red diamond appearing for a second would have been enough for me to scream "YES!" in the theater.
Hm. Guy looks pretty good for the role. Plus, the good thing about Sinister is that he doesn't have to look like he does in the comics. He's known for taking over other bodies, after all
