All those powers looked more or less the same, strange, they could have made the choices a bit more varied too. I would say I'm not going to play it but I probably will :P
It'd be nice to see some physical mutations to differentiate them from generic superhero kids. This doesn't really capture the X-Men vibe.
Hmmmmm....seems okay to me so far but there better be more substance to the game, at least in my opinion.
Does anyone else think this game looks like absolute ball sack? jeez why didn't they make a x-men legends 3 with createable characters :( me so sad

This doesn't really capture the X-Men vibe.Yeah, if anything it reminds me more of DC online, and thus a create your own SUPER HERO/ VILLAIN mechanic rather than a MUTANT. Kind of a shame, I was hoping we'd get a game sooner or later that really let you have a go with any sort of power and trawl through some key X-men locations, but alas, no...
Played this at SDCC, it was quite bad- so bad in fact that I was surprised they were showing it. Granted it could have been an early build but the fighting was rudimentary and the gameplay provided absolutely nothing new. Even the character run-ins were boring, which would be the only reason I'd pick up this game, they were all just dialog tree after dialog tree and you get the sense that no matter what you choose it won't make a difference in the game what-so-ever.
What probably made it worse was that it was sitting right next to Spider-Man: Edge of Time- now THAT game was a lot of fun and looked GORGEOUS
I challange you all to make a better game. Everytime I'm on this website, all the fanboys are complaining about one or another. If you are all so damned unhappy with the outcome of projects like this. Start writing into Marvel and DC and tell them to stop making the games or whatever project it is this week or next week. Companies are trying to make a living, they make a game that people were asking for and now that it's here (not even released yet) and you are up in arms. Starting to think we shouldn't have had that revolution a couple hundred years ago, no one's been happy with the outcome since.

Starting to think we shouldn't have had that revolution a couple hundred years ago, no one's been happy with the outcome since.I agree with your sentiment, but not the points you make surrounding it. firstly, it's been well established that arguments like "I don't see you doing anything better" are about as valid as the "you're just jealous of my success" argument. I can't make a better video game than this, because I'm not a video game designer - but that in no way invalidates my opinion. I don't have to be a director to dislike a film, and I don't have to be a novelist to dislike a written work of fiction. personally, I like the idea, but I don't see why they couldn't take a little more time to vary these powers a little. also, I don't see why a character creation system would be such a downside - choppy graphics could almost be forgiven if they were pushing a little towards more innovative gameplay, and a little less towards "we want to make an X-Men version of Prototype". it looks like it's still in the Alpha testing phases and it's slated for release in little over a month - this is bad news, unfortunately, and uncharacteristic considering the fact that Marvel has tons of money they could be (and maybe even are) pouring into this game. most of the people I know are still asking for X-Men Legends 3, and this isn't it. I'm not meaning to be offensive, but trailers like this are designed to show off a game's capabilities, and this presents a unique problem. in one camp, you have the "don't knock it till you've tried it" people, and in the other camp you have the "vote with your wallets" people. these two ideas, of course, are in stark contrast to each other, because in order to try it, most people will have to first purchase the game. at this point, it makes the "vote with your wallets" idea invalid, because most people have already purchased it just to see if it was any good. this is why critics are a necessary evil - nobody needs a 'yea' or a 'nay', but it's nice to have someone who can root through the dirt and give a little insight before somebody has to make a committed purchase. it's why I always wait for major Marvel/DC events to go TPB before I even bother with them, because by then the critics have spoken and I can have a good feel of the game. sorry to drag on, and I'm not meaning to offend, but these opinions are valid. most people aren't even complaining about the game anyway, but rather the current state it's in. personally, I'm in no hurry to pick this thing up and I wouldn't mind if they threw a few more months of development in to clear of some QA issues. that's not really too unreasonable, I think.
This looks horrible. I think i rather just stick to the older games of x-men like Legends 1 and 2. To be honest i think this could be worst game of the year out of 10 games. It looks like a mixture of ultimate alliance 2 graphics with the worst characters, and levels, I love x men but dont you think they could have spent their time making it much better? I know i can't truly judge it right now because well i've never played it. I will rent it, but it doesn't look like i'm going to have much fun.
Let me just say this. In the present day marvel makes better comics but dc makes WAY better video games haha
You start off with three powers. Choices, genes you equip and then costumes alter the power. Plus each character will play differently which you could tell from the vid.
I don't think y'all are getting the concept.
You start off with THREE core powers then from their you pick up X-Genes on the way.
Examples:
Density Control: You'd be able to pick up an X-Gene such as Emma Frost's diamond skin, Shadowcat's Intangibility, Colossus Armour, Juggernaut's Strength.
Power Projection: Surge's Electricity Blast, Cyclops's Optic Beam, Magneto's Magnetism, Emma's Telepathy
