Uncanny X-Men is a comic being relaunched in February. I will be picking this comic up, at least the first issue, as I am impressed by Brian Michael Bendis` work on All New X-Men.

I do not plan on picking this comic up for very long. Why? The Outfits.

    No Caption Provided

You yourself may seem fine with these costumes. I am not.

So let's go step by step with what is wrong with these costumes.

I'm not gonna lie, I really don't have a problem with Cyclops ` costume compared to the other two. Other than the fact that he has a giant X on his face, nothing is really wrong with it, and I'm aware of the fact that due to the events of Avengers Vs. X-Men he is mutating again.

Magneto survived the Holocaust. It's a vital part of his back story. It's the reason he thinks that mutants should take over, because he doesn't want them to experience what he has experienced. So can someone tell me why a man who is in his 80's looks like he has been doing steroids? Why is he so damn buff? I get he always looked like this, but the costume really emphasizes it now. Look at this Del Otto variant cover:

I get they are trying to make him look cool, but unless he somehow became younger or something, I'm not impressed.

Let's move onto everyone's favorite mutant, Emma Frost. Emma Frost's old look, with the white outfit and the cape, was absolutely fine. It wasn't so bad. This new costume though, is just horrible. Not only is contradictory to the whole "White Queen" thing, but it's also goes against what Marvel is doing for females in general.

Marvel is currently doing this whole female push in their books. With books such as Captain Marvel land Journey into Mystery on the shelves, a almost completely female X-Force book just released and Fearless Defenders and X-Men coming along in the next few months, they are showing off their female characters. Do you want to know what is a similarity with all of these characters? No one looks like their costumes were incomplete. Seriously, I think the designer was working on her outfit and went, "Eh this is good enough".

As for the other characters, I honestly don't know anything about them, nor do I plan to stick along with the book for a long enough time to want to know anything about them.

Magik's costume becomes a whole lot worse when you realize she's a teenage girl IIRC.
Also, just noticed, but is Mags not wearing a shirt?

I want to say he is wearing a shirt, but that Del Otto cover says otherwise.

I've heard about it from some interviews with Bendis, and from reading All New Xmen.

Must have been hit in the head recently then. This series is a disaster on par with Pompeii. Though that at least has historical value.

@FadeToBlackBolt: The thing I don't like is the whole "look how far you've fallen" thing they're using against Cyclops when he's not even really being evil. He's just saving new mutants from getting killed, something the X-Men always did.
Also Beast's new look, it is just the worst thing.

"Professor X would still be here if we kill Summers now!"

No, he wouldn't, as Cyke has saved the Professor countless times. On top of that, THAT'S NOT HOW TIME TRAVEL WORKS, BENDIS YOU F*CKING CRETIN. YOU'RE MAKING NO DAMN SENSE.

@Decoy Elite: It's too stupid for words.

The paradoxes are so heavy they almost cause brain-bleeding.

Possibly the worst storyline in all of comics. That's not to say it's poorly written (which it is), I'm just talking about in terms of an idea; it's f*cking awful.

That's lovely. So I guess we're gonna ignore Emma and Namor who were shown murderin' the heck out of people on panel.

@Decoy Elite: You know why Bendis brought the original 5 in, right? It's because he only read the first issue of Uncanny. His research consists of everything the guys currently writing have told him, the movies, and that single issue. That's why nothing makes sense. In Bendis' mind, Jean was always hot for Logan.

Honestly, it's not going too far. They're murdering characters of literary and cultural importance. They should suffer the same penalty as someone who kills an ordinary person, who isn't going to affect history in the slighest.

And you should read Morrison's New X-men, and Whedon's Astonishing. Then Carey's X-Men. In that order. All are infinitely, INFINITELY better than this crap.

@Decoy Elite: The trouble is, since 500, Uncanny hasn't been written by a single writer who knows what they're doing. They literally do not understand any of the characters. Jason Aaron came on as an unapologetic, misguided Wolverine fanboy and turned Cyke evil, then Brubaker (notorious for having some of the worst X-Men series pre-500 to his name) and Bendis continued down the route of ruining everything in favour of cheap drama. Pissing in the face of long-time fans does not even begin to cover it. They're anally raping us with a cattle-prod.

@Decoy Elite: Highly unlikely. Bendis is the top dog, and he's known for just taking characters solely so other can't use them. Basically, expect a bunch of consequence-less easy-reading in adjectiveless. Not that that's a bad thing, but when only bad things are happening in the big title, the trickle down effect comes into play.

I'm guessing something similar along the lines to put Cyclops firmly back in hero territory. Unless Marvel, le gasp, actually points out that he's not even really a bad guy right now.

@Decoy Elite: They'd need someone who actually likes the character to do that though. Bendis is an idiot who loves morally-perfect Wolverine (and thus hates Cyclops), Aaron is the same, Gillen's a pretentious douchebag who thinks he's done a masterful job on the series (SPOILERS: He's a d*ckhead), and the rest of Marvel don't have any say.

The guys who like Cyclops; Warren Ellis, Grant Morrison and Joss Whedon, aren't working on anything X-Men any more.

(Notice the difference? Good writers like Cyclops, incompetent morons with the IQ of a partially aborted raccoon do not)

Can't speak for the current series(although I too heard it's good) but the original is pretty good. Continuity(as usual with Bendis) is a little bad though.Mostly because of the FF.

@Walzo: Hickman is an overrated and pretentious tool who relies on "cosmic significance" and "secret histories" to mask the fact he disregards canon. Look at this most recent Avengers, he speaks of Iron Man as the first Avenger (which he wasn't, if anything it was Hank and/or Wasp) and introduces the Builders. Who are the Builders? They're the designers of the Universe. Um, since when? Everything is always a revelation, or explained by some kind of pseudo-cosmic, ham-fisted wannabe philosophy. Everything in his comics is just Deus Ex Machina. This is the guy who had a five year old fix Doctor Doom. A FIVE YEAR OLD.

And Remender relies on "kill a hero, revive them as a bad guy" for literally every story. A complete hack that also receives praise because, quite simply, the people cheering him know as little (about the characters and history) as he does.

Oh, X-Men Legacy is a good X-book right now.
Mostly because Legion is the best.

Bendis is good on Daredevil and Ultimate Spider-man ( I don't even read Ultimate Spider-man, just heard it was good).

Ultimate Spider-Man is consistently OK. It's never once great. It's the kind of comic you read when you don't want to be disappointed. But it has never been good.

    @FadeToBlackBolt:

You're tearing through all of my current favorite writers ;_;.

I don't know then, Matt Fraction (I don't even think that's good), Garth Ennis, Scott Snyder, Geoff Johns (eh), Brian K Vaughn?!

X-Men Legacy was always good (with the single exception of Rogneto, but no one knows why that crap was done.). As was X-Factor.
