    X-Men

    Team » X-Men appears in 13417 issues.

The X-Men are a superhero team of mutants founded by Professor Charles Xavier. They are dedicated to helping fellow mutants and sworn to protect a world that fears and hates them.

Would you want the X-Men to merge with a government organization?

Would you want the X-Men to merge with a government organization the way the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. has ever sense the Civil War. Maybe Become an official part of S.W.O.R.D. because of how close Abigail Brand is with the X-Men.

@Teerack: maybe a faction of X-men, like Storm's XSE or Val Cooper's Freedom Force/X-factor, but not so much the X-men as a whole. I sort of like that there's almost always some X-men who are outlaws.

As for SWORD, that seems like it should be more of an Avengers thing, and Beast is also with them, so, I dunno.. I'm not a big fan of X-men in space.

I was about to write.......wasn't X-Factor a division of the governments department of super human affairs ??

I think it would be neat, since mutants don't like the government and all...it adds drama.

@dangallant984: Well I said sword not only because she's dating beast, but Brand goes to the X-Men first when ever she needs a super hero team, and because she's claims to not be half human and half alien, but half mutant and half alien.

s.w.o.r.d should have a team of x-men with them.... maybe a new starjammer team. im waiting for rachel to leave the x-men again, still waiting for a confrontation talk between her & young jean which could lead to rachel leaving & reforming again a new starjammer team that works with SWORD

No. Unless it's a country with mostly mutant population and mutant rulers. I don't want X-Men to turn into a government stooges.

Yes. It gives them A) a driving force to deal with threats from a variety of sources with some legitimacy, as well, B) There is drama in the tension between some members of the team and the factions in government that supported mutant registration and other anti-mutant agendas and C) it gives them a reason and enhanced capability to seek out new trainees without using Cerebro, mini-events or unlikely probability as a way of introducing themselves to new mutants.

yeah, I just think that dealing with the stuff that SWORD would need superheroes for should be the Avengers bag. Like I said, I'm just not interested in seeing the X-men in space; not that there haven't been good X-men stories set in space (although, I would argue they are the exceptions), it just seems so besides-the-point of what I find interesting about them in the first place, and for that reason, generally contrived.

@dangallant984: I guess I just always sorta associated the X-Men as kind of the space super hero team because my favorite X-Men era was 75-88ish and there were a lot of big space stories back then.

yeah, there was. I just always thought the best stories, the ones that really cut to the core of what made them unique (Proteus, DOFP, Trial of Magneto, all the Morlock stuff, Genosha, etc..) were when they were on earth. Even the Dark Phoenix Saga, conceptually, was basically about what if one of the X-men went all Proteus.

Outside of the context of normal humans, they seem to lose what makes them conceptually interesting and distinct, and become no different from any other superheroes.

I wouldn't mind them having their own official SHIELD affiliated unit but it would be a small segment for specific mutually beneficial purposes.

Having for instance, Beast become Director of SWORD so he can really tell the Avengers and SHIELD to **** off and let them handle their own affairs maybe a neccesary step at this point.

No.It's been enough that Cyclops is some kind of a dictator now,Magneto is a pussy,Wolverine is momma's boy and that Emma Frost is nothing like herself.
