    So that's that, I guess. Two real awesome shows halted. I do hope that Marvel does own the rights to these characters now, because being owned by other studios makes it a little tougher to sustain. Whereas being Marvel property, it can't go anywhere else since these are Marvel characters, and we might just get more consistent programming and longer seasons and some fun crossovers.

      Fan asks about Wolverine and the X-Men Season Two. They have "unfortunate news". They were unable to work out the financing for the show with their financing partner, and will not be moving forward.

    I wonder why they didnt get the finances?  It was one of the better x-men series to date.  Instead were geting an ultimate spider-man cartoon  (the joys)

    @Edamame: I just would of thought that instead of trying to pitch another new series they would instead continue with what they already have and save money on the marketing.  Also how many spider-man cartoons have their been? do we really need another especially if its kind of taking the place of a good x-men cartoon

    I hope that what happens is that the series will come back if there is enough demand for it after the Disney merger goes through. Disney XD will become even more Marvel focused and the show will move from Nicktoons to Disney XD. The show gets stronger ratings and they bring it back considering it is owned by Marvel, scripts are already done on it too.

    You know something I realize, these animated cartoons really need a big budget movie behind them. That seems to drive the financing along with it. You look at what has happened recently with some cartoons and movies...
     
    Spider-Man gets a reboot and delayed and then they cancel one cartoon to launch another possibly around the time of the movie.
    Hulk cartoon got cancelled when there was no sequel announced to the Incredible Hulk, most of that was rolled over to the Avengers cartoon.
    Iron Man does well and gets a sequel and continues it's cartoon continues.
    Thor has a cartoon in the works along with it's movie.
    I wouldn't be surprised if a new X-Men cartoon is announced closer to when the new movie comes out and would deal with that core X-Men team starting.

    Yeah pretty much... I would expect that they want something that goes better with the movie they are putting out. The only thing is that X-Men First Class does not include Wolverine, their most bankable mutant. Can you imagine a X-Men cartoon without Wolverine? It is the reason the last series was called WOLVERINE and the X-Men. Still suprised that it was cancelled but hopefully they bring it back or do a straight to video movie. 
     
    X-Men: First Class is a sort of prequel/reboot for the X-Men movie franchise with the X-Men when they were younger. I have no idea if it will be a full reboot or just focus on the X-Men when they were younger. The reason is that means if it is a prequel then Iceman and Angel don't make sense with the timeline, a reboot would make sense. I could see them possibly do replacements

    @Edamame: Don't really think that it will work, a petition, they rarely do. The "financing" issue I think was part of it but I think there wasn't enough boost because no X-Men movie to really push it. They had the Wolverine movie but once that didn't really build buzz for the character, even though there is a sequel in the works, I think that is why they haulted production. I think the show was made in India or something, a first for that sort of thing so it is possible that it was more expensive than originally thought.

    Well honestly, they took Korea's jobs. Thats where most animated shows get animated. I think Fantastic Four was done in France. Another example of how a show gets cancelled with nothing from the movie ongoing. I'd expect another Fantastic Four cartoon to be developed when there is a new movie. Also Disney has the resources to produce these animated shows at a cheaper price because they own the studios that do these sort of things. They are really trying to push Disney XD, their boy branded network. I could see a possible future when Disney could possibly rename the network Marvel TV or something like that. They have enough content to do something and push the Marvel name along with replaying many of the Marvel movies.
