    Nope you're wrong.

That's Mike Choi. Sonia O'Back was the colourist (Also interestingly, his Fiance, although they've since split up).

okay, for classic X-men artists, I'll say

    • Alan Davis
    • Paul Smith

    In no specific order:

    • Stuart Immonen
    • Humberto Ramos
    • Jim Lee
    • Sana Takeda
    • Oliver Coipiel

w/ David Finch, Chris Bachalo and Ron Garney very close runners-up. Jim Lee is odd for me as I like the modern art styles better than the old, but he's the guy who really got me reading comics - specifically X-Men. His rendition of them is just iconic.

Too bad Joe Mad hasn't drawn a lot of X-Men, I'd probably buy no matter who wrote it.

that was me, I said that. I get why people don't like him, but I think he's great.

I didn't like his distinct surface style so much when I started reading back in the early 90's, but I think his original run on Uncanny X-men (after he took over for Paul Smith, in the early 80's) is still one of the best drawn periods of X-men. And his approach to faces and anatomy was way better than most fan favorites of the 90's.

Jim Lee only works best for dynamic scenes and colourful superheroes, just like how the other polar end of that is John Cassaday, who draws human scenes really well.

I know that a lot of JRJr's current stuff sometimes looks rushed and a bit sloppy compared to some of his more classic work; but, to be fair, due to his reputation for being fast (able enough to do two regular books a month, and for extended periods, when most artists can't do that for one book), I bet he probably gets a lot of gigs where the deadline is tight.

JRJr at the beginning of his first run on Uncanny was superb, towards the end he started to take his Kirby love a bit too far (as he does nowadays). He was definitely in the running for my list, Jim Lee is overrated but the first year of his run had some stellar stuff too.

I think it's very telling of the tastes on this forum that this is the first mention of Jack Kirby (original creator of the X-men, and most revolutionary artist of the genre) to be found on this thread.

@oldnightcrawler: Yeah, but admittedly his best work was in other titles.

Kirby's? I guess so, but what I most admire about him is still present in his X-men work.. I guess it depends on how you look at the question; is it who are the best artists to draw X-men comics?

-or- which artists drew the best drawn X-men comics?

I answered the latter (and based on who my personal favorites are as much as who I really think is the best), but if I had answered the former, I would have had to include him.
