I think that anyone except Namor would be an insult to Imperius Rex!
X-Men
Team » X-Men appears in 13419 issues.
The X-Men are a superhero team of mutants founded by Professor Charles Xavier. They are dedicated to helping fellow mutants and sworn to protect a world that fears and hates them.
What if Cyclops died? Who should lead the X-Men?
Magneto, besides Scott and Charles, he's prob the closest to the idea of their dream. If Scott dies I think that Mags would change his way of thinking
I think Magneto was the best leader of the X-Men. However I don't think he will ever be allied with them again. Too much bad blood. Storm is my second favorite leader. I think she should hook up with Wolvie. Those two never seem to have been happy enough with anyone else. Were they a couple in the Universe X series? I only read the first part of it.
I think that if Cyclops died, the world would be a better place. I've always hated the character, so seeing him be offed permanently would sit well in my heart.
Then again, I feel the same way about Wolverine.
As for who would lead, I would like to see Cable do it. That would just be...interesting.
@LowelltheFirst: Is your avatar Andore from Final Fight? It looks a lot like it...and even if it's not, I'm going to continue believing that it's Andore. = D
Emma Frost, even though Magneto is able to be a good leader, it wouldn't work out, because last time i checked the x-men doesn't get along with him too good.
Though I'm not the biggest fan Storm would probaby be the best bet. I certainly don't think any of the above are qualified. Even though I love Magneto working with the X-Men I don't trust him to lead em.

Yes and I think Andore would give the X-Men a run for their money. Even without super powers.
bump..
" 1. Namor 2. Emma 3. Wolverine "Idk if Marvel would let Wolverine lead it, he's apart of too many teams, and makes a lot of appearances :P

got to go with Wolverine he would do anything to ensure that the mutant race survived no matter what people thought of his actions
i say magneto although i never seen him lead it but i think he can do it
second is professor x
third will be emma the psychic b!tch
fourth will be storm
Namor is a true authority figure...unlike some mutant heros/villians he is always faithful to his character..he is born to be a leader, if writers put him in a support role it is deamining to his persona....So either he should be removed from X-men or he should lead them....
Team dynamics and storytelling really highten up with a hardline leader who is prone to bursts of anger and who has a cult of personality than with a bland emotionless leader or "pass the torch" faceless leadership.....
Namor is a definite no - he's been an X-Man for less than a year. Magneto probably has a hidden agenda and Wolverine would be way too preoccupied.
Xavier, Beast or Emma would be the most suitable leadership choices.
I don't get why people rule out Namor for not being an Xman for very long, and Magneto for having a hidden agenda and then go on to suggest Emma. WTF? She's hasn't been an Xman for very long, only since Genosha.
All the Xmen leaders have failed at some point, so they should go to council type leader ship. Use multiple teams, and each team leader would have a seat on the council. They have more than enough Xmen to make something like that work.

And since she joined the X-Men, Emma never turned her back on them, while Magneto did. She has already proved her loyalty.
I do agree with your council idea, though.

Beast: He is the longest tenure among the mutants besides Iceman and Angel. He is a smart guy and could lead the X-Men into a better direction especially now that he is working with the Avengers and Steve Rodgers. He also knows the curse of being a mutant more than most because of his appearance, could add some weight on what being a leader is. I would also have him reboot the team to his standards including more new characters in the field. They all have to get a start sometime and he will push them to do that. He would be able to deal with Emma pretty well too.
I think with some development, Shadowcat would actually make a nice leader. She's been with the X-men for as long as anyone else on the list. She knows how the world is to mutants. She can definitely step up to the plate when things get crazy. All an' all, I wouldn't mind following her lead. Plus, she's nice. I don't know how long that nice thing would last, but it's definitely a quality.
