@cresshadow: But they AREN'T mutants! You have to be born with the gene. In theory, Hope just made a whole lot of random peoples life's harder by giving them powers. If it really was to work, it should be that it was possible for people to be born with the gene again.

Maybe they always were but their powers never activated before M-Day and when they got the X-Gene back they started up. We know basically nothing about the newest group of mutants (have they even been checked by a trained professional like Beast to see if their X-Genes have changed?).

@waezi2: technically they are. what scarlet witch did that was a serious and overlooked problem was that she completely halted evolution as a whole which was why the phoenix came to earth in the first place so it can jump start it so the people who were suppose to have mutant abilities did have them. that's why we dont see captain america or even aunt may for that matter with mutant abilities if mutants were arbitrarily as you think they were. same with inhumans right now. turned out there's alot of them in the world but due to them being so isolated they didnt have their genetic potential awakened within them.

X-genes were reactivated by Phoenix. Jean just won't let scott down

Scarlet Witch shut off the X-gene in most mutants that were already active & shut it down in all future mutants... thats what M-Day did! when Scarlet Witch & Hope Tried their "No More Phoenix" spell it actually reversed the Original spell as far as reactivating the X-gene in future mutants & those for the most part that was in the early stages of puberty so they became full mutants as well. the inconsistent trait so far has been Mathew Mallory..... a mutant that has had his power for some time.... was he depowered? was he a mutant the whole time but just couldnt access his power due to xavier's mental blocks? i bring him up because this info needs to be divulged because most of the previous mutants who lost their powers didnt get them back at all. Polaris gained her powers back thru apocalypse, as well as sunfire, marrow got her powersw back thru tech, feral & thornn got their powers back thru Romulus and only Rictor got his power back from scarlet witch.... but my question is why didnt the other depowered mutants get their powers back.

Cyclops was right not only about the phoenix force but about the perception of the mutant race. look at Loki..... he is basically to the people of earth an asgardian but they arent all against asgardians, nor do they go after any other super hero because as far as the people of the earth are concerned spider-man, the hulk, the FF, the inhumans, and most of the others are basiclly mutants maybe not in the sense that they were born with the x-gene but for the fact that they gained extraordinary powers.... more explanation needs to be given in alot of these events that are happening as of late.

To me Cyclops and Magneto are both right. They share the same point of view.

Maybe, but not because of anything Scott Summers did. Infact, you might say he and his fellow hosts just held it back for a few weeks while doing other things with it.
