Top 3 X-Men Villains?

Who are your top 3 X-Men villains? Mine's are:

1. Magneto - Before he turned good, he was the X-Men's biggest enemy going against Professor Xavier's ideals for peace between the mutant community and the humans and causing mass destruction wherever he went.

2. Mr. Sinister - He was responsible for sending the Marauders to wipe out the Morlock race, which was one of the most shocking moments to happen in the X-Men comics.

3. The Original Hellfire Club (1980s) - They were responsible for making Jean Grey transform into the Dark Phoenix.

I'm a big fan of Magneto, but I like him maybe a little more as an anti-hero.

so I'd have to say..

My top 3 are:

  • Scarlet Witch (for pretty much wiping mutants off the face of the earth)
  • Apocalypse (awesomness)
  • Magneto (the original)

My top 3 villains:

Can't beat the classics. :D

I don't consider the Scarlet Witch an X-Men villain, sure she wiped out all mutants but she was sick in the head when she did it. Plus, she isn't evil. The X-Men never really fought her. She's not a super villain, merely a powerfully disturbed woman.

I think and for me it's like this:

  1. Magneto
  2. Apocalypse
  3. Phoenix Force

  1. The Sentinels
  2. Exodus
  3. The Brood

All the other good ones really aren't terribly viable as villains anymore.

Oh yeah! The Sentinels were great villains in the classic X-Men stories!!

I don;t know If I can count Magneto because he isn't really a stereotypical villain, well, not always.

Human race-obvious reasons, the enemy that cannot be defeated

Sebastian Shaw- The Hellfire Club was apparently a real thing, and people still have theories that a secret cabal runs or tries to run the world. I just think he fits into a real world type scenario.

Shadow King- underused villain IMO, A powerful telepath is a deadly thing. There was suppose to be a story arc where Shadow King seizes control over numerous X-Men, access dreamtime and actually sets events into motion that would lead to Days of the Future Past where humanity is at war with Mutants.....sadly it never came to fruition

@ScarletBatman: I don't know why people keep saying she "wiped out" all the mutants as though she killed them or something; they just stopped being mutants -and some of them were much happier for it. It's like an escalator: it doesn't stop working when you turn it off, it just becomes stairs. That's not saying she had the right to do it, but, yeah, she was never really a villain to the X-men like she was to the Avengers..

I have to agree. Since Scarlet Witch was mentally unstable at this point, I actually kind of feel sorry for her...a little bit.

@Rabbitearsblog: yeah, Wanda has a pretty tragic history of mental illness, and the Avengers have definitely been on the receiving end of that more than anyone else..

I like Scarlet Witch; she is one of my favorite Avengers. But I did agree with The White Queen's assessment at the start of "House of M". She should have been euthanized. Realistically speaking, superheroes in the Marvel Universe have a really bad history of not adequately containing extremely powerful super humans who are insane and even the X-Men had to kill Proteus. All life is sacred. Which is exactly why an individual that can erase hundreds or thousands of individuals in an instance during a mad rage should be killed. She should have been replaced by someone else to keep the character and name under Marvel's control - maybe a clone allied with Mr. Sinister or another character, like Amanda Sefton, could claim it.

well, Hawkeye, the Vision, and Antman are all back from the slaughter, so probably.

@PhoenixoftheTides: would it be too much for Magik to be the Scarlet Witch? I mean, because she's Russian, or would that be getting into Black Goliath territory?

#28 Edited by PhoenixoftheTides (2890 posts) - 4 months, 15 days ago - Show Bio

@dangallant984: LOL The only reason I didn't suggest Illyana was because I like Magik's code name, and technically she's a sorceress and not a witch - not sure if that means anything in the M.U., though. But hey, both of her old New Mutants "senior" uniforms were red, so it could work! I'd be amenable to 'Magik, the Scarlet Witch'.

(She's on the far right of the last pic, in case it isn't obvious)

Ah...where to begin? I think I'll just list my favorite villain by my favorite heroic foil/combination.

The ones I like the most are Sinister vs Cyclops, Apocalypse vs X-Man, Marauders vs Storm's X-men, The Reavers Vs Wolverine, Sabretooth Vs Psylocke and last but certainly not the least is Storm's X-men vs Scott's X-Factor (aka O5). So many good stories. honorable mention though is that cache of Brood that Havok ended up killing that was a great story.

@dangallant984: Yea, I know but honestly X-villians are one minute super-sinister (forgive the pun) and weak as kittens the next. I wanted to illustrate the villain during their prime. And thank you for the compliment!

@PhoenixoftheTides: Hey Phoenix, actually that one started out white and black in Uncanny Annual 10 (art adams) and is that the liefeld version? Love the old blevins art work. Never see his stuff anymore...
