I get that Wolverine is one of Marvel's most popular character. But is putting him in EVERY Marvel book necessarily a good thing?

He started in Alpha Flight, Marvel's Canadian Super Team, but only really started to shine on the pages of X-Men. Now... he's EVERYWHERE. And with multiple writers with multiple perspectives on the character, its no wonder he's become so... BORING. He's got his solo adventures. He's in X-Men, X-Force and Avengers. And now he's going to be in Uncanny Avengers too. The only thing he hasn't been is with the FF!!! Well... not officially, coz there was that Hulk, Ghost Rider, Spidey & Wolverine FF team up...

On one hand he's one of "Earth's Mightiest Heroes", loved by all.

But he's also an X-Man, a mutant... hated and feared.

He often takes teenage sidekicks under his wing, training them to face a world that fears them (Kitty Pryde, Jubilee, etc).

But the SCHISM with Cyclops was forged on the principal of letting kids be kids.

He started the Jean Grey School to teach and educate the young mutants in morality and responsible use of their powers.

He continues to lead the X-Force hit squad in secret.

And after all the secrets, murdering and lying... Wolverine will never be held accountable for his "crimes".

Because he's an AVENGER.

My hope for MARVEL NOW? Less Wolverine please.

NO...NO...NO. We need more Wolverine. Lots more Wolverine. He isn't in enough places. Wolverine should go and join the Inhumans cause he isn't human. Wolverine should go join the Runaways cause he is a loner and they runaway. He should go and join the Fantastic Four. Invite and family only you say? Then he goes and gets his name legally changed to James Logan Howlett Storm and joins the team. He should go and become an Atlantean cause he can swim and and the Starjammers....and the Warbound....and Asgard, yeah, Asgard. Give Wolverine a magic hammer and call it.....Skycutter. Not enough you say? Then he goes and joins Olympus and becomes the new God of War cause Ares is sh*t. We need more Wolverine. MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE!!!!!

Writers have basically made him have too many different personality traits that conflict with each other. He's become like Moon Knight but nobody knows he's crazy.

And I thought Hank was a hypocrite

Meant to be a open discussion on the direction MARVEL has been taking Wolverine and ever expanding roles that are diluting the character. In fact i agree with @Osian2 . Conflicting characteristics does not necessarily equal character development to me. To me, when a character develops, he pulls in another direction. Like Cyclops arguably changing from a boy scout to a fascist. Whereas Wolverine seems to be pulled in multiple directions. While i agree with you that the 90s wasnt a great era for Marvel and "capes & tights" comics, i was actually referring to more recent developments for the character.

Wolverine is a great character and you can never have too much from him.Whenever I see him in whatever it is I am happy because he deserves the popularity that he actually already has.

In terms of popularity, he is Marvel's Batman. They are both annoying, but Wolvie is way less annoying.

Too be honest, I was pissed off when they actually named a show and book series : Wolverine and the X-men....

How insulting to Cyclops and Storm..

They have led the team a million times over before Wolverine and never had their name on the title like that...

@slimlim: You can toss on using child soldiers as well. He's throwing Hope into the fire...something that caused the final blow up during Schism.

Well they had to do something with the name after cancelling the animated show...

DC should be able to lease him so there can be more Wolverine.
